Thumbs up Ruger LCP Range Report

I fired my new Ruger LCP today for the first time. Here are my thoughts:
    * I fired 50 rounds of Winchester, 95 grain FMJ,.380 Auto (white box).
    * The pistol ran with no problems for the 50 rounds.
    * My shot groups were tight at 10 feet and 25 feet, but all groups were high.
    * I attribute the high shooting to the "tough to see sites". I was aiming high.
    * When I put on my reading glasses (I could now see the sights) and shot a group, it was right on center.
    * I will dab nail polish or something on the site posts to see them better.
    * The pistol is "snappy", but easy to control.
    * Breakdown and cleaning was very easy.
    * This is not a range gun.
    * I want to shoot it enough to get used to it and ensure it is reliable.
    * I will carry it occasionally, when something very small is called for.
    * I plan to run 2 or 3 different JHP's through it to check reliability.
    * For the money, and for what it is, I am satisfied so far.

Thanks for the report. Confirms my observations as well, including the high sight-line. I put a small cleaning flashlight in the bore, and practiced aiming at the wall, and could see that I was generally high. Need to work on those sights.

I think you're right... a dab of red on the front sight would help.

    LCP Range Report

I have a friend who is going to an LFI class in June with me and he is looking at this gun for concealed carry. From the limited information on Ruger's web site this looks like a great little carry gun. Does it appear to be a comfortable carry piece?

I find it very comfortable. It's light, and will easily fit in a pocket.

    LCP Ammo

It's good to hear you didn't have any jams with the Winchester ammo. I have a Bersa .380 that about every fourth clip the last round fails to load. My friend attributes it to the flat nose on these bullets. I've picked up some Remmington that has a rounded nose but I have not had chance to get to the range yet to try them out. Please post more of your experiences with this piece and I'll forward them to my friend. He wants to go to the gun store tomorrow the check one out.

    Cricket Carry

My new LCP (bought yesterday 173 miles away) fired blazers 90gr. great right out the box. It's buffed and lubed now and carries like a dream in an el cheapo UM pocket holster...Soon to be riding in a more appropriate fitted leather job. Well worth the road trip for a nice BUG and a Carolina summertime carry for those trips to the Lil' Cricket.

I plan on getting one of these too.

How much was the box of ammo?

Sports Authority had a sale on the white box ammo last week. Everything was pretty cheap.
That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?
