    I Need Therapy....New Warthog

It was just a harmless trip to the gun store to buy a box of bullets, and somehow I walked out with a brand new Stainless Para Ordinance 45 Warthog I will ask my wife to post on here and let you guys know how she liked it after she shoots me with it.!!!!

Seriously though, after I shoot a few boxes through it and I am happy with it's performance, this will be my main gun...and my first 1911...so I need you guys to convince me that they are safe cocked and locked like the salesman said. I know they are safe....just need some convincing

Also...anything I need to know from fellow Warthog owners would be appreciated. It sure is a pretty little thing

HV - best therapy is to send gun along so I can break it in for ya

The one thing I always mention with C&L concerns on a 1911 platform is - don't forget your grip safety! IMO that is all that is needed to remove some of the apprehension some folks feel with carrying that way.

Of course too - lots - I mean LOTS of practice, not only shooting but draw with C&L and getting totally fluent with safety-off sweep manouver - which should happen part ways thru the draw.

I have no Warthog - just a rather fussy P12-45 - which is a great gun except mine is too fickle to trust as yet - attention needed to extractor I think now.

First let me say that cocked and locked is no way to carry a 1911, its very unsafe, so you just send me that new pistol and I'll carry it for ya to make sure you won't get hurt.

Congrats on the purchase, there have been a few members who have given some reviews on the little Para, here is a link.

    Thanks

I read the review....pluses and minuses just like every review I read on every gun.

Now the task of finding the right holster. I want an IWB with a retention strap in leather and a metal clip to go over the belt. Can somebody save me hours of searching?

You guys are too kind...what a grateful offer asking me to send it to you.!! I will never see it again will I?

I really like the feel of this pistol. After handeling and playing with it with some dummy rounds, I feel it is a safe gun carrying C&L. Now all I need is a good IWB holster for it!!!!

I found mine liked light 45 like the CorBon 160DPX non+P compact load 1050FPS from a 3" or a 185gr. Mine was never 100% till I started shooting the lighter weight bullets . 230 ball is in low 700fps from these short barrels Mine wouldn't even shoot thru 1/4 lexan (plastic) Commander and Govt put round clean thru. test for your self and you will be surprised . Need the lighter round to get bullet back to speed.

    For The Newbies

Congratulations on your New Pistol Purchase!
Just so some (new to firearms) forum readers have a ballpark idea of what the pistol you're talking about looks like.

1911's were designed to be carried cocked & locked. It is not unsafe as some may say. Know your gun.

    +2 Only way to carry.

I don't carry mine, but it is stored c and l.

Don't like safeties. G19 or 642 will do.

    It's a Winner

Great news....my Warthog is a winner and I love it. I just came in from shooting 100 rounds through it and not 1 failure. I used 3 different brands of ammo as well as the Federal Hydroshocks that it will have in it and it took them all.

More good news is that at 50 feet I was able to put 9 out of ten shots on a 8.5 X 11 target with at least 1 bullseye and the wife almost did as well. This is better than we ever was able to shoot with the S&W I traded in for the Para.

I am VERY pleased with this gun......
