$90 to ship a gun one way? $180 for the round trip? Is this a gun shop that doesn't like you?
I believe my next 'last' purchase is going to be an Ed Brown Kobra Karry in SS...

I was thinking about this a lot....but I could never made up my mind.
I'd like to have an other 1911 for carry. As an alternate carry gun if something happens to one of them.
It has to be a full size stainless steel 1911 with night sights series 70 only. No gizmo parts like series II, and whatever Colt call theirs. So some manufacturers are simply out.
Stainless steel only, more rust resistant then blued. (If you say to have it hard chromed, well it is approx an other $400. I recently sent one of my gun to Tripp. $215 for the job plus $90 each way insured shipping.)
Springfield TRP (stainless- I know ILS...but it's an easy fix) is what a carry gun looks like in my book (my current carry is set up the same but it is blued, 120F-sweat-blued= rust.)
But for approx $1400 I think it just way too expensive, only 400 away from a Baer.
So I am just wondering what options are out there...what I haven't seen.
I'd like to thank you for the help Guys with a picture of my current carry.
Just for the record I own two Les Baers and a Kimber. And I do not carry it hammer down. (Unloaded it to take some pictures.)
Regards,

I carry a gun cause I can't carry a cop.
Get another Baer! I'd go Baercoat if you don't like blued or hard chrome.
So far I'd have to say that my TRS is my favorite carry 1911 that I've ever owned.
The stainless TRP is also a great choice, had I not picked up my Baer, I was going to go the TRP route, and in all honesty, I still want one.![]()
You might take a look at Dan Wesson. I'm hopping to make this my next EDC. http://www.cz-usa.com/product_detail.php?id=66

CRIME..... LAW DEFINES, POLICE ENFORCE, CITIZENS PREVENT!
FOUR BOXES KEEP US FREE: [1] SOAP [2] BALLOT [3] JURY [4] AMMO!
If you wanted to stick with Kimber you could try their SIS. It doesn't have a Series II safety in it and has the night sights and is coated in some kind of finish that looks to be durable.
The Springfield is a good choice, so is another Baer. Dan Wesson, as mentioned. You could even look at Wilson Combat if you were willing to spend the mula.
BTW, what price range are you looking at?

There's a gunshop down the road an hour or so that usually has used Wilsons, Ed Browns, and the occasional Nighthawk. They are usually priced under 2K and their evaluations of the used pistols are normally right on the money.

Whittakers is near Ownesboro, Ky. I live SW of Louisville and run down Hwy. 60 to get there. I'd guess from Louisville you'd go I-64 through Indiana and then drop back down into Ky.
The store has probably 3000 guns in stock and they are very nice folks. I have traded with them several times and they have treated me well. It is well worth the trip. If you can save $400-800 on a gently used Wilson/Brown/etc., it's worth it.
