    The "new" Walther P99 QA

I sold my Walther 99 QA two years ago and, like my Steyr, regretted it ever since. So when I saw a hot deal from CDNN on the new QA I bought it. Kept it a week. Everything was excellent except the new decocker. Simply put, they reduced the size by one half and it is awkward at best to get your finger (and my hands are small) to fit in the depression to decock the pistol. This makes it dangerous, in my opinion, to safety the weapon. Still trying to figure out what that engineering marvel was all about.

The purpose is to decock the pistol prior to dismantling for cleaning, because it must be decocked first, or the trigger pulled. Otherwise the decocker serves no other purpose. Safer than dry firing each time.
