I'm thrilled with my M&P 45. I use it for CC, IDPA and USPSA.
Have fun.

Which will hold it's value best, if you decide down the road to sell it? Research old Blue Book of Gun Values.

why not 1911? I have a SIG, Glocks, and CCW my 1911's because they point best for me, ride best for me, and hide best for me :) Just a thought.

I have two Kimbers...both operate flawlessly...but I want to step up to a Brown or Wilson...probably the Brown Kobra Carry...
A Kimber could be a great start for you...just go 'play' with one for a while.

SIG 220 is an excellent option.

Where you buy notwithstanding, this search by caliber function makes for some interesting window shopping:

If you already have a Glock then get an XD to change things up. You might like it better, you might not. Put your hands on a few to see how you like the feel.
A friendly warning about the 1911, there like lays potato chips, bet you can't have just one. Example...I own one glock and 5 1911's with my sights set on more. Another example... read the posts carefully, you almost always see 1911 owners talking about guns not gun.

Anyone notice he is from Illinois? And he said he already has guns for concealed carry? Unless you are planning on a move soon... I'm confused.

There's many fine .45's out there. I have a Kahr PM45 for concealed carry. I have a Springfield XD45 for USPSA shooting and concealed carry when I'm able to conceal it.
