Kimber Pro CDP II & Federal HST Ammo

    Bad, bad combination...

I thought I'd try some HST ammo in the Kimber, and it was nothing but trouble. One stovepipe, a few slide locks and one COMPLETELY REVERSED round.

No problems at all with the Speer GDHP, so I'll feed the HST to my
    G36. The Glock'll eat anything...

Odd. My Warrior loved the HST loads.

Goes to show - each individual pistol will have it's own individual "preferences" for ammo.

Blame it on Sixto - now that is a viable plan.

I've not found anything my Pro didn't approve of...

Wow, good subject. I'm about to buy a bunch of SD ammo for my Ultra CDP II and the standard pressure 230g HST was my first choice. The 147g HST has served me well with my PM9. Hmmm.

Personally that would steer me away from the Kimber Pro CDP II as Federal HST is by far my favorite ammo
Abort the Obamanation not the Constitution

Those who would, deny, require permit, license, certification, or authorization for me to bear arms are as vile, dangerous & evil as those who would molest, abuse, assault, rape or murder my family

I would pick up a couple boxes of each flavor. You got to test for yourself what will feed through your gun!
I've got 4 flavors through my Kimber compact without a problem.

I shot the older Hydra Shok ammo for years in my Ruger P85 with no problems of any kind. I was REALLY surprised at my results with the HST stuff. I may even buy a caliper to measure the difference between the HST stuff and the GDHP.

Also, I was using a combination of mags. One was the Kimber standard issue, two were Wilson Combat. All were 8 round magazines, and I had feed issues with both types of mag.

I went ahead and bought 200rds of the 230g HST. Hopefully, I won't run into any issues. I've got to start somewhere and if it doesn't workout, I'll just give the rest to my buddy. BTW, does your CDP have the internal or external extractor? Also, was that standard pressure HST?

It was indeed the standard and not the +P ammo. Mine has the internal extractor.

I measured the HST ammo today, versus the GDHP:

    HST: 1.21"
    GDHP: 1.20"

In addition, the HST bullet has a much different shape (the opening of the bullet is larger, which makes the front of the bullet "flatter"). Next range trip, I'll try the HST stuff in my G36; I'm sure the Glock will eat anything, but I need to be REALLY sure before I carry it.
