Last Saturday, I went to my FFL and picked up the SIG P229 SAS that I bought online from Bud's Gun Shop.
I had already shot a friend's P220 with DAK trigger and liked it. Then, I handled the P229 and it felt, well, perfect! After over a year of fantasizing I finally decided to go for it.
OK, I love functional firearms, but if they're looking classy that's all the better--so it was the SAS for me.
That first range today was brief, with about 80 rounds of WWB through it...it shot as well for me as it looked and felt. It's a great feeling to have it come together like that on the first range trip. Then my wife shot it and shot well, in spite of it being way bulky to her hands she had made all A-zone and head shot hits, even whacked the plates pretty good. Then my buddy Jon shot it better than I, screaming through the plate rack...he's an excellent revolver competitor and that DAK trigger was just right for him. This was strong testimony to just how good a pistol SIG has designed.
Oh, what's with this Alger stuff? I name my handguns...and being a Sig Sauer this one needed a Swiss or German name. In German, Alger is a male name meaning "noble warrior." He's no safe king, but a shooter (and carry piece once the holster arrives), at least to the degree I can afford .40 ammo!
