Tarus PT1911B
I've got the opportunity to buy a PT1911B NIB. I'm left handed and like the ambidextrous safety, but I've heard pros & cons about this pistol. I'd like your input on its reliability, durability, and concealability as a primary carry. Does anyone know its life expectancy? Could you and would you use this at IDPA shoots? Any input would be appreciated, especially from any owners/former owners.

I have one that I bought used. No problems as of yet. I love this gun. Trigger is crisp and smooth and very accurate to shoot.

I've got one that so far has functioned flawlessly, have put about 300 rounds through it. My only complaint was the Heine Straight 8 sights which I changed out with standard 3 dot night sights. Concealability should be no different than any other full size 1911.

Gunblast.com did a nice write up on them. It can be found here:

I have one and am a southpaw also. The pistol is solid and tight and has a GREAT trigger on it - best trigger I've felt on a factory issue pistol. I've shot about 250 rounds through it so far with not one issue. Accuracy is great, but I have to adjust the sights - mine shoots a bit low and to the right of point of aim, but groups are small.
The only thing that I've noticed is that the blueing on the grip safety is starting to show some wear already.
