After what seemed like an eternity to get my hands on the G19's little brother, I finally picked it up today. It seems to conceal well using my MTAC holster, and the grip doesn't dig into my side like my G19 does when I am sitting down. I just have one question though...
What type of defensive ammo performs best in a subcompact auto such as the G26? I bought some Hornady Tap 124 gr. ammo for it, but never used that particular brand before as I've mostly stuck with Federal HSTs and Gold Dots.

Federal 124 gr HST'strust me i did alot of research on this very question. Heres a pic of some HST fired from a G26 (also fired test rounds through Kahr PM9, M&P 9c, Glock 19) all performed exactly the same.... Congrats on the new G26....
Note: FMJ (upper right) for reference only & yes thats a dime being completely by a 9mm Federal HST round

Speer (and a few others, I think) makes a SD round that is custom engineered for short barrel guns.
I've never tried the 9mm, but I use them in my .45 Based on that, I'd recommend them, but like I said... I've got no FIRST HAND experience with their 9mm.
In my 9mm (PT92) I use winchester silvertips... but that gun is significantly different that the G26.

Thanks for the reassurance, I can continue to carry Federal HSTs in both my Glocks. By the looks of the picture, the HSTs would create a mess inside whoever is unfortunate enough to get shot with them.

Congratulations Spyderdude! Your TAP rounds should suffice. Really, any well-constructed modern hollowpoint from a reputable manufacturer will do the job these days. However, if you really like performance, I prefer most of my defensive ammunition from Double Tap. They are flat-out awesome..

Only advice I would give you is to stay with a bullet that is 124 grains or lighter as you lose too much velocity in the short barrels for the 147 grain bullets to be as effective as the lighter stuff. IMHO. I hope you enjoy your Glock G26 as much as I enjoy mine.

I've never seen any HST in my area. Probably because I live in Speer country.
The loads that I think would work great in the G26 are:
115 gr Speer Gold Dot.
115 gr or 125 gr. Gold Dot + P from Double Tap Ammo. High velocity with the
LE and CCW proven Gold Dot design.
Another load would be the 127 gr Ranger +P+ but it is also hard to locate in my area. Also very expensive.
Again, I'm perfectly happy with the Gold Dot in all of my guns.
In closing.. do think that the 147 is best from longer barrels.

The 9mm is a high pressure round...and out of a compact, shorter barrel pistol, I want positive feeding, accuracy, velocity, penetration and reliable expansion. That spells Corbon DPX copper tops.
In my Glock 26, I carry the 115 grain Corbon DPX + P.

Congratulations on a great choice of carry weapons. I'm currently trying a couple of different options for ammo, but the best thing is to practice, practice and practice some more... to me shoot placement is probably the most important thing with any carry weapon.
