VZ grips 320 ultra slim

I just recieved my VZ 320 ultra slim blasted black canvas and their slim line screw/bushing. I went with the less aggressive 320 over the gator grips because I don't wear an under shirt. It is smooth enough to not irritate my back but still has enough texture for a positive grip than say a polished grip from carbon creation. The slim grips actually feel a lot better than the reg width grip since I have relatively small hands. Also since it is a canvas material, it does absorb some sweat.





Compared to a XD-9 Service (note that the 1911 grip is rounded off vs the squared off XD grip, making it feel even slimmer)

Nice grips Mr. Skinny. I think the "canvas" is a take on the appearance. I believe VZ grips to be made of Micarta. Check out how old the "technology" is!

Micarta is a trade name that was given to thermoset composites back in the 1890’s by Westinghouse. We chose Micarta® for three reasons:


1. Durability: Micarta® has a higher tensile strength than steel. It is used in storm shelters to provide state of the art protection rooms to ward off the threats from tornadoes. It is also being tested to armor aircraft cockpit doors.

Pieces of canvas protrude through the laminate when milled adding additional texture to the grip. I personally like the look and feel of the canvas. It has that rugged personality and a definite A+ on the cool factor scale.

Update:

I used this gun yesterday in a local IDPA match. The smaller grip allowed me to get a much better grip along with the sanded down thumb safety that was giving me bruises in the webbing of my thumb. I was able to control the recoil much better. I have to say that I will be using slim grips for future 1911 from now on. My $.02
