Ill say that if it is absolutely all you can afford then go for it . However realize it wont even be a good trade in when you upgrade later .
Make sure you get full value out of today , Do something worthwhile, because what you do today will cost you one day off the rest of your life .

You will probably get zilch, nada, zip, zero trade in value. There is not a high demand for Cobra pistols. I did read an article a while back on this very pistol and it behaved well with FMJ hardball rounds but it was not recommended for use with any JHP rounds by the manufacturer! I would save your hard earned cash and get a Glock G21, G30 or G36, or a Springfield Armory XD if you want a polymer frame, striker fired .45 automatic. You will be a lot happier in the long run, believe me!
God bless our troops!
Search around here, there is another thread here about the Patriot .45. But I will tell from experience (I own and sometimes carry one) it is a good pistol. I have had mine just about a year now and never had any real problems with it. I did as much research as possible before buying one and I found more positive than negative. To me it feels good in the hand, shoots accurate enough for “close combat” shooting, the recoil is comfortable and the price is nice. It’s a basic self defense gun, no frills, no rails, but it works. As a owner of a Patriot .45 I recommend one. But feel free to look around and see what else interest you. Plenty of guns out there to choose from.
I went ahead and found the thread that talks about it for you.
I'd rather see you purchase a good knife instead, and save up for a respectable pistol.

It sure is a better looking gun than the Hi Point.

I remember reading a magazine article about it. They said that it was accurate enough and extremely reliable.....but ONLY with FMJ ammo, which it was designed for.
Now, I'd imagine that there are alternatives, such as Pow'rBall, that would work just as well as FMJ. I wouldn't want to take that chance, though.
Save your dough and buy a Glock,SA, or S&W.....In the end you get what you pay for, I learned this the hard way many years and dollars ago.
Well, I agree with ID13, I've owned one for about 6 months now with nothing but my reloads thru it (up to around 600 now) and not 1 problem with it. Contrary to OLD info, it will feed HP ammo; for the price, you can't beat it. It would be nice if it had a slide hold open lever, though.
Again, it's a decent and reliable pistol. I'm assuming that the original poster is probably limited on funds as this is why he is looking at the Patriot. While he can wait a few months and save his money to buy a more well known and expensive brand, the wait will leave him unarmed. This gun fits a certain niche of gun owners. People looking for an affordable, easy to use, reliable pistol and it serves it's purpose quite well. I can fire HPs out of mine just fine. Another good ammo to use might be the Expanding Full Metal Jacket rounds from Federal. Looks like FMJ but they flatten and expand when they hit a target.
.45 ball ammo has terminated many a enemy of American troops. I would not want to be in front of one.
