Anyone carry a S&W AirWeight?

I just acquired a 637. It's an excellent and light carry piece, though not at all fun to fire with +P ammo.

yep, 9/642, stoked with 5 Speer Gold-dot 125gr JHP 9mm and 5 more in pockket on moonclip

I just bought a 642 a few weeks ago, and I love it. I don't leave home without it anymore. Some of the best money I've spent.

I might be the only one with this thought, but I wish S&W made an Airweight 9mm revolver. Cheap ammo, fast reloads with moonclips and slightly better ballistics over a .38 Spl....oh yeah, I'd be all over that.

For some reason, that concept has never taken off but every maker has made one at some point. I actually see the point of such a gun even if I probably would not get one myself.

It's possible to put a 940 cylinder into a 642, making your very own Airweight 9mm (a 942?). There's a fellow over at THR that has done this and is happy with the result.

Contact and information please. Secondly, would this damage the gun or make it seem too altered?

I've heard of that on more than one occassion. I personally would not do it for a defensive gun because I am paranoid.

The guy's name is Brian Williams. I don't know him other than what he's posted about it. He has some pictures of the conversion here. He said that he can swap between the 9mm and .38 cylinders. If you do a search over there on his user name and 942 you'll find some other posts.

I will never sell my 442. It is by far my most reliable piece that I own.

My sister in law has a S&W.22 magnum and loves it.

I have 2 friend that carry airweights. Both of em really like em to shoot and carry. Makes a great ankle carry piece due to its low weight.

Yeah, Euc, I dont see the 942 being practical, lawyers would probably eat you alive.... :eek:
