A good CPO 226 is one of the best values out there right now...Most of them have been carried a lot and shot a little, and they are (as you can see by the responses here) excellent firearms. I carry a 228, but a 226 is my 'nightstand' gun, and I would carry it as a duty firearm in a heartbeat. You really can't go wrong with one.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

The first pistol I ever bought was a P226 , hands down one of the best pistols out there, I love it. It's incredibly reliable , and shoots like a dream, buy one , you won't regret it.

    Sig Sauers are great guns

Recently I got a Sig P239 in 9mm, which is very compact compared to the P226 and conceals much easier. It carries 8+1 rounds, many fewer than the P226 but adequate for my needs. So that is what I use now for 9mm carry.

Is that a stainless steel frame there? I never knew the P239 had a stainless frame as an option...

The slide is stainless but the frame is aluminum, anodized in a silver color instead of the usual black of two tone P239s. I don't know the history of the gun since I bought it used from a dealer.

Ok, mine is the regular pistol not 2 toned, but the slide is stainless steel when I look on the Sig Manual and catalog... I like how that particular p239 looked in the pic, wish I had an all stainless steel version out.

I have frequently carried a SIG P-220R without any problems at all in a VersaMax-II. (Just avoid deep puddles!)
