    Purchased My First Handgun

    Hi,

I purchased my first handgun today. I went to the indoor range this morning and tried several out. Found one that fit me just right. I ended up going to Cabela's to get it though because they had the particular gun 10% off.

So I ended up getting the HK USP Compact 9mm. Got it for $700 new (plus tax).

It has the da/sa trigger, which I may have changed at some point to the LEM.

Trigger on the xd9 was too easy for me and caused me to jerk up in anticipation. Glock 19 was great, I fired very accurately, but grip was riding me weird. HK was perfect.

Thanks to those who provided input.

Especially if you've been overzealous with the CLP while cleaning the gun the night before, and your co-worker keeps asking what smells like oil the next day at work.

    That was uncomfortable...

Ah yes---the new pistol. Well now---that's always a good feeling to have and to hold until.............do you part and all that good stuff. Sweet looking H&K there! I've never shot one personally, and never really pondered getting one. Not sure why. Good luck with it and hope it will make you a life long friend.

That's quite nice for a first pistol!

Won't be carrying it for a while. Want to take a few handgun courses and sort of work my way up to concealed carry. I'm going to try to find a outside waistband holster just to use out on the range.

    Thanks for the comments.

The HK case the gun came with is broken. One of the hinges looks busted up. They had the serial number stickered on the case though so they wouldn't swap the case for me.

    Now to read the manual!

Suggestions on accessories/holsters are welcome and appriciated.

    Thanks

Congratulations. Enjoy the new gun. You picked a winner. I have two HK USP's, both in .40 S&W. They don't let you down.

Great choice! You just bought a gun you can use for everything. You will not be sorry.

As for holsters, my three favorites are:

    1. TTGunleather (copy of MSII IWB, my main cc rig)
    2. Blackhawk SERPA (for IDPA, range & cc while wearing a coat)
    3. Bianchi Black Widow (great for carry if your cover garment is a sweatshirt one size bigger than you normally wear)

Now, get 2 or 3 more 13 round mags before the next Presidential inauguration and your good to go!
