Stock/plastic guide rods and springs in Kahr, when to change?

I took the gun apart to clean and lubricate, and just wanted to know what is the service life of the plastic guide rod along with the springs that originally came from the factory?

Also, why does Kahr stainless steel guide rods possibly need fitting (as the web site states)? What other companies make metal guide rods and springs for the Kahr MK9?

    Thanks

As far as I know, the plastic guide rod should last nearly indefinitely.

Spring life is a much debated topic, and most people will say it's somewhere around 1,000 rounds, but it depends completely on the gun. I recommend keeping a spare set or two on hand, just in case.

You might try checking the owners manual for the correct spring change interval. If memory serves it should be in there somewhere, having owned a P9 in the past.

Googling it, I get tons of different answers... Everywhere from 1,000 to 5,000 rounds, to 50,000 rounds on some shotguns, etc... so I guess the truth is, it depends completely on the gun.

I would think so, I hear those tiny R9 9mm might mouse guns only can take 150 rounds before the recoil springs need replacing... and many full size guns are at around 2000 rounds.

I am going to get a stainless steel replacement guide rod with wolf springs.

I changed mine when it broke. That's right, broke. It contacted a hard surface and the end piece shattered. Comforting.
