    Sig P229 EQUINOX

Shopping for a birthday gift and was strongly considering the P229 for conceal & home defense. The Equinox caught my attention, especially since it comes "stock" with the night sights so it's not much more in price.

what are your thoughts on this one? just subjective preference if you like th color difference over the regular P229?

The pics on the sig website make it seem more luminous and I wonder if that would get me unwanted attention.

    Thanks

I think it is a fine choice if you are happy with it.

It's going to be the 3rd in my little collection. Mostly home defense & fun at the range, probably carry occasionally IWB. Otherwise I'd just get a P226 which would be tough IWB.

I don't think the 226 is any worse IWB than a USP compact. Which a fair number of folks here seem to carry if This thread is any indication.

My wife and I have a Sig P6, P226R, and P250. As well as a USP Tactical and an HK P30. The P226R is only a little larger than the P30 I carry concealed every day in a Comp-Tac MTAC.

That said, the Equinox is a sexy looking gun. Especially the P226 Equinox.

    Go for it

I'm a big fan of the Sig P229, as I've had one for about 8 years and shoot it frequently. I think the gun has a great trigger feel and good ergonomics, and it seems more accurate than most other guns I have.

I posted the picture of the Equinox model below, from the Sig website. It is a sharp looking gun, with the combination of stainless and black. I wouldn't worry about the brightness of the stainless parts "giving away your position" in an unfriendly encounter. If the gun is carried concealed, nobody can see it until you draw it. And once you draw it your adversary will probably know what it is, regardless of its color.

Thanks for replies. After trying it on the hand I'm worried the grip is a little too thick. I have beefy palms and the Equinox isn't as perfect of a match as the standard P226. But oh does it look nice!

The 229 platform is a great gun and the Equinox is a great version. I wouldn't hesitate to get one for home defense or carry. I have a 229 Elite which I absolutely love. Great gun, fantastic shooter and the short trigger reset is awesome.
