Should I refinish my Kimber?

Ok guys, here it is.( warning the pic sucks)
When I got my gun the trigger was to light(2.5 set from Clark Custom)
As having owner Sigs,Glocks,HK, and rev I finally made my way to the 1911.
With the help of you guys and the Kimber forum ai made it mine.
It has been broken down, cleaned, I put the wolff Kimber 4" spring in it w/the xp hammer spring. Changed out the hammer spring to stock and the one that was in it was about 3 coils shorter. I put a little bend on the sear spring and now love the trigger. QK Clark already had the mim Slide stop changed to a bar and melted.
I went with the alumagrips because thumper liked them..lol. I love them.
Added 3 WC 47OX for feedings.
I changed my mind on the sights and went with the Big dots,and am very glad I did!

My VMII will be here in a few months to take over as my EDC.
ETA: an AXIOM may make the trip also...hmmm

One question... There are a couple of scratches on it and I let an Idiot put on my sights:aargh4:
What do you think of a satin Hardchrome from Tripps. I here he will take orders for another week.
This is a one of a kind gun to me(first custom 1911) would you have it finished, and in what?

CD, definitely hard chrome. I have been shooting hard chromed guns for years and they are a cut above as far as firearms finishes are concerned. I used to shoot a full house race gun in .38 super in IPSC for about 10 years, putting well over 60,000 rounds through the gun, and when I sold it was just as tight as the day I sent it off to be chromed.

If Tripp's has closed down, you can try checkmate or accurate plating in florida. Both are excellent shops and do fabulous work. The gun you see pictured as my avatar was done by checkmate back in 1998; it still locks up like a bank vault after nearly 30,000 rounds and daily carry.

Well, your gun is already Stainless Steel so I would just get it refinished.

Since Stainless Steel is not a surface finish and is the same Stainless material all the way through you can just have it reblasted to get rid of the scratches.

Would you go with tripps? Or who else would you trust?

It's already Satin Stainless.

OR - You could go Satin Hard Chrome OVER Stainless.

Tripp can do that - also Armoloy and Metalife are two other great platers.

I will call them monday. I may put Hard chrome over the stainless.That would be a pretty tuff finish. Has any one done theirs?

Well, I know that a lot of folks who buy a pistol with a black oxide or blued Carbon steel frame and the gun has a Stainless slide and other various mismatched parts will go ahead and have the entire firearm done over (usually in satin Chrome) and they do the slide since they want everything to color-match exactly.

It's really amazing how different the colorations of Stainless - Electroless Nickel & Chrome are when you put them all right next to one another.

When my stainless carry guns get scratched too much, a quick trip through the bead blaster makes them look brand new. No coatings.
