Yep, I'll get you a range report on Monday. I'm hoping they are both perfect out of the box so I can retire the XD to the nightstand, but I'll give the good, the bad, and the ugly as always.

From one Kimber Ultra lover to another...
You have a nice combo there...
Stay armed...with quality...stay safe!

I've always liked the look of the triggers on the Kimbers (and 1911's) -- I've never shot either, but looks like you could pump a lot of rounds out very quickly. I'm still working on speed with the LCP because the trigger pull is so heavy. KER is right about them being sexy though...
It is utterly illogical to believe that passing laws to reduce gun violence will be successful when those who are commiting the gun violence do not obey the law.

Go check out some 1911s the next time you're in a gun shop and try the trigger. Be careful however, doing this may delegate your LCP to a backup gun.

very nice setup....
something funny...I just shelved my ultra carry to carry my XD for a while...
but realistically, my 642 gets the most carry time
please give us a report...can't wait to see how they performed for you.

Good Lord why would you want to retire an XD to nightstand duty?

Well, I'm back from the range. Unfortunately, they were not both perfect out of the box.
I most have gotten one of those fluke Kimbers. It was the strangest thing. Every time I loaded a magazine and pulled the trigger there was this loud noise and a hole appeared about 15 yards away exactly where I was looking. It was the strangest thing. Who would have thought Kimber could actually produce a functioning firearm?
Trigger was amazing, and while I am not and may never be a bullseye shooter, for a 3" barrel, I was very happy. At 15 Yards, everything was in the 9 ring with a good amount in the 10 ring.
As far as the LCP, that's another story. I'm about to have to do some searching on this forum and others to figure out what's going on. I only shot it about 50 times and had no less than a dozen light primer strikes or what appeared to be no primer strike. Upon returning them into the magazine they fired fine, so something weird is going on.
I'm sure it will probably be something easy, if not, it goes back to Ruger. Accuracy on it was not top notch, obviously. It's a very long trigger pull. Almost to the point of being too long. I found that the pad of my finger just doesn't quite go that far back so I resorted to the 'grab and squeeze' trigger pull, and it seemed to do fine. It is also quite snappy. Almost feels like it wants to jump out of your hand. There's just not that much grip to get a hold of. It's definitely not a target gun. It was meant for ultra-concealment/BUG and probably shooting from retention within 10-15 feet(which conveniently enough, is exactly why I bought it). I did go over to the 7 yard targets and placed just about every shot within the 8 ring, so I figure that will do fine, but it won't be carried until I figure out the light primer strikes.
As far as targets, I didn't keep the target for the LCP. It was nothing to write home about and having to clear malfunctions at least once a magazine did not make for great shooting to begin with. I've tried to take pictures of the target for the Kimber but they keep turning out worse than my earlier attempts. I am going to blame it on my wife's camera, so will bring mine from work and see if I can do the gun, the holster, and the targets justice.
I would absolutely recommend the Kimber, but the jury's still out on the LCP.
