I have two older S@W revolvers that I want to use for concealed carry but not sure about using 38+P in them. Anyone here have any idea's on serial# that you can use it in. Tryed to get info from smith but couldn't. Any help greatly appreiated. Thanks:tumbleweed:
Model # would be a little more helpful at this point vs. serial number.
Model number, dash number and SS first 3 digits then we would be able to tell you. Generally mid 80s guns are OK but not earlier.

My 1968 Model 60 is a no, my 1974 Model 15 is a no and no problem with my 357 Model 66-1.
You might want to run this question past the gang on the Smith & Wesson forum. Even then, you'll find differences of opinion. For example, I wouldn't have any hesitation to shoot a modest number of +p loads in either of the guns listed above to check their point of aim. In fact, I choose to carry +p loads for self defense in my similar vintage 60 and 15.
As I understand it, the metalurgy on Smiths changed sometime around '45? (Someone will clarify this). The older guns should receive TLC (i.e. no +p stuff).
Any numbered model, such as 15, 64, 67, 19, 66, ect, are +P capable, according to S&W customer service. Regards 18DAI.
