What would you do here....357sig lust
Here is my dilemma. I need input to make a decision. I want a 357sig gun. Now, I know some people don't think their of value, I understand the debates and the higher ammo cost, etc, however, I want one, therefore here is the question:
I have this gun that I can just get a 357 barrel for
However, I have a hankerin for an HK P2000sk.
Can get one with both barrels, 357sig and 40 s&w. I know that round would be more controlable in the Sig platform that I have, but I just like that HK P2000sk, but am afraid that it will be too much for that little platform. Anyone have experience with either of these guns in the 357sig? Is it controlable enough after a couple of rounds? Whata you think? Thanks

While I haven't shot the 2000SK, I have shot the Glock 32? the .357Sig version of the 19 and 23, IIRC the mid-size Glock is larger then the SK, and even with a light mounted to the Glock, it was a handful with the .357Sig.
Personally, I'd go with the .357 barrel in the 239 or look around for a 229 or 226 with both barrels.
**Edited to add, if I were to go with a Sig in .357Sig, it would HAVE TO BE a Sig 229 Stainless Elite.

I have a P2000 that came with both barrels. I shot about 50 rounds through the 357 Sig barrel. I could not shoot it near as good as I can the 40 S&W. I probably could have improved with it, but with ammo cost and availability, I just sold the 357 Sig barrel.

I have both barrel sizings for my P229, and have to say that I'd never go any other way (if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?). Forget worrying about 'another gun you like' and stick with what you're shooting now. The fact that, for a piddly $128 you can go w/ .40 or change to .357 Sig is just too cool.
The P229/239 SAS series is undeniably the nicest off-the-shelf item I've ever purchased. Having shot the HK in .357 Sig, I have to say that it isn't my first choice. Get the new chambering and you'll be delighted.

pick me up one too
also, my son and I are considering Barsto or FireDragon conversion barrels in 9mm for my 239 and his 229 (both 40/357 frame).

Depends on how many guns you have, you need a spare in case one breaks. I would get a new gun, but, that is how I think.

If a pistol can handle the .40, it can handle the .357 Sig. 40 is much harder on guns than the Sig round. I find it to be much nore accurate and pleasant to shoot than the 40.

Incredibly important and well-made point, nn. A backup for your backup is always better, so to speak.

Thanks for your input....I backups to backup to backups. I just have the new pistolo itch....it goes away for a period of time if it is scratched sufficently, but as soon as one of you "bad influence guys" tell me about that awesome gun that you got it returns like a bad rash.

My P239 in .357Sig is one of my very favorite handguns. It is a great combination of power and size. The pistol is incredibly accurate with the 125-grain Gold Dot and I actually shoot it more better than I do my full-size P229. It is a pleasure to carry and to shoot. I highly recommend it!

.357 Sig
I have shot a 239 Sig in .357. I've also had an XD in .357. There is one major problem with the .357 Sig and the .40 S&W that doesn't get mentioned. At least rarely if at all.
An older person (like me) or a female with small hands or just someone with not much grip strength had a great deal of difficulty racking the slide with the recoil spring required by these two calibers.
In fact most pistols in these calibers I can't operate at all.
But the one ton price of the 239 DAK is all that keeps me from buying one in 9mm. It don't hurt to have a purty gun.
