So I bought an XD-M and am planning on putting it in the carry rotation with my XD45 and my PM9 after I field test it this Saturday. I really like the grips on it, they feel great in my hand. The looks are ok, Im neither impressed or terribly underwhelmed by the aesthetics. It fits nicely in my Crossbreed Supertuck that I bought for my XD45, which is a bonus. The trigger has a shorter pull than my XD45, XD40, and XD9SC but is a bit grittier. I have a feeling that like the other XDs I own, this will smooth out as I feed rounds through it. The capacity is nice, but I am not terribly worried about it and would gladly carry my XD45 service with its 14 rounds of .45acp instead of this XD-M with 17 rounds of .40. The new take down lever is much less obtrusive than the old XDs which is a nice bonus. A bit more care seems to have been given to the slide as far as fit and feel but it's not a huge difference. Overall, I find it a fine addition to my XD lineup (pending my range trip). If there is interest, I will report back after my range trip.
LOL! I will do this for you when I get home. I forgot to mention that I like the fact you can field strip this pistol without pulling the trigger. Not necessarily for safety reasons, just because it's one less step and makes it really fast to take down.
Now maybe Lord Vader won't put that little choke move on you.
Thanks! The main reason I posted this was because I've not seen a lot of threads pop up on this pistol (I havent looked that hard so I could be off base here). I really like the feel of it and hope it retains the XD reliability that I've come to stake my life on. I will post honest thoughts on how it did after I hit the range, good or bad. I love the XD line, but I wouldn't ask anyone to stake their life on a defensive tool that I wouldn't stake mine on. I hope it proves a worthwhile purchase!
