I think that's the fair market price for that weapon in .357 NIB.
Revolvers are usually ten or twenty dollars cheaper for the same model in 38-only configuration.
I have heard that Rossi triggers have gotten better since Taurus bought them.
It's a good price for a bedside gun that will not be shot much.
That is about what I paid for my wifes Rossi 357 two years ago.
Assuming I'm looking at the same gun, I'd say you got a pretty good price for the gun. A local dealer who normally has very good prices through Davidson's shows the gun at 269.99. Bud's gun shop shows it at 268.00. BTW, your link doesn't appear to work. I get an Academy

I would go for the 462, it is 6 shots all steel. Will handle 357 or 38spl +P. I have one and have put 500 rounds through it with no problems.
I own the 461, which is .357/.38. In double action mode, it has a real stiff trigger pull, probably 2 mules to pull it back. In single action, the trigger is very light and crisp, a fly could set it off. I shoot mostly .38's out of it because recoil and my back don't get along too good. Had mine about 2 years now, never any problems. Maybe 1500 rounds shot thru it. There will be someone along soon that has a friend, that had a daughter, that had a friend, that has an uncle on her grandfather's side that will tell you they are junk because that is what they heard from 2 flies chatting on the outhouse wall. Mine does me pretty good.
Like pgrass said, it's a good price for a gun that won't be shot much and parked on your nightstand, but for a carry weapon, I would probably save up a little longer and go with the 442 or 642 S&W.Quote:

As far as needing the .357, I don't know many people who shoot .357 out of a small revolver and I haven't seen many people doing it unless they were trying to impress somebody. To tell you the truth, if a hole appeared on the target it would be a lot more impressive...
IMO, a .38 is more than adequate if you do your job, but I'd probably skip the Rossi.

I bought one of those about 18 years ago when I didn't know anything about guns. It was my first pistol, and second gun ever after a 10/22. Probably has 3000 rounds thru it, didn't clean it for the first 10 years, and it is still a nice revolver with a decent trigger and accurate as heck. I don't carry it, leaving that to my titanium taurus, but it is on my permit and I do take it camping and out of state when it has to live in the locked container.
Of course, your results may vary, and I have heard it takes a LONG time for Rossi/Taurus to fill warranty requests now.
I bought a Rossi M971 .357 almost 15 years ago. It is very accurate and has been dead reliable. My buddy has a Rossi .38 that he carries in place of his Glock 27 from time to time and his experience has been the same as mine. They are very good guns for the price. I don't carry mine unless I'm hunting because it is just too big, my EDC is a Kahr CW9 or Glock 19.
