nice deal on the Security Six! I had one a few years ago, and during a pre-senior moment I screwed up and traded it. Bad move on my part.

Security Six has been my Dad's HD gun for as long as I can remember. My wife has one as her HD gun too. They are great guns for sure. Congrats on the good buy.
When you've got 'em by the balls, their hearts & minds will follow. Semper Fi.
The first handgun I ever purchased was a Ruger Security 6 357 Magnum. I purchased I believe 1969 or 1970 and still own it. At the time I purchased it I was working for a contractor that had a sub-contract for spraying Pine Trees in Targhee national Forest in Idaho where I grew up. Reason being is that Targhee National Forest near Island Park Idaho borders Yellowstone. The Grizzly Bear was protected at the time but not the persons spraying the trees. After a co-worker was severly mauled by a Grizzily we all started to carry 357's (less expensive than 44 mag) for personal protection. Fortunately never had to shoot a Grizzily to find out how much stopping power the gun had but did fire it several times to scare away preditors. We also carried a snake load in the first 1 or 2 chambers for rattle snakes. That I did use at least once with great success.
Enough antidotal information. I know when I purchased my Security Six I was told that it was new to the market.
I can tell you that the price is excellent and my Security Six I still owe an it is in perfect working condition. It is the one gun I own that I will never sell.
Hope this information is of some value.
Cuban Chevy.
I've got a Speed Six HB 38spl only(same as security six except round butt and fixed sights) and it's a great gun.
Great gun, built to outlast you!
I had a Police Six that I sold and I deeply regret that to this day.

Lord, Grant me a good sword and no need to use it.
These are good hard-working revolvers. I bought mine in the 1970's and still have it and after MUCH shooting it's still in fine shape and now lives in the night stand beside the bed. I've got newer, shinier (more expensive) pistols and revolvers but I know beyond a shadow of a doubt if I or my wife needs it in the middle of the night it'll do the job. Thank you Bill Ruger!
My brother got one last year for $150.00. What a deal.
I picked one up about 5 years ago. I bought it used. I never carried it concealed, its main purpose was as a BUG to the Remington 710 30-06 when I go hunting. Where I hunt there are only black bear and coyote to worry about, .357 mag should stop them. Heck, a .22mag would stop a coyote.

It is better to have your gun and not need it, than to need it and not have it!
Still can't believe what happened on 11/06/12! Disgusted and disappointed!
