    Duracoated Revolver S&W Model 637

I decided to add some flavor to my j-frame smith. I ordered the duracoat for another project but I could not resist. All in all I think anyone can apply this stuff. It was super easy...the hardest part will be waiting for it to cure completely before daily use. What do you think?

I am usually not a huge fan or duracoated handguns. I have to say, that is one of the home projects that I must admit, looks pretty darn good. Kinda thinkinf of doing that to my 637.

Looks great. I just did a rifle with DuraCoat. I like it.

That looks like Black Oxide. Or is it Flat Black?

Wow. I love it -- although I think I might've painted more parts for a more monochromatic look. How durable is DuraCoat? Does it resist normal wear well? Or cleaning products?

Hotguns----It is flat black mixed 11.5 to 1 ratio. The more hardener you add the more glossy the finish.

Stan for short ----Duracoat is supposed to be one of the most durable gun finishes on the market, however time will tell. I almost painted all the parts black but thought this might look good, however I may go all black with my next batch? You are supposed to be able carry it and to clean it with any normal cleaning product s within 24 hours, but it does not reach it's maximum hardness for about 3 weeks.

I did my 1911 with some I believe it was KG gun finish from midway and after airbrushing it on it requires baking at 350 degrees for an hour to set itup it's suppose to be resistant to saltwater for at least 72 hours and is extremely scratch and wear resistant, also self lubricating like black-T.that gun looks great,I'm glad they make products nowadays you can coat a gun with that will last that doesn't require all the stuff like hot blueing

Yes, I did bob the hammer also....good eye Danimal. I used a grinder and a few hand files to finish. I like the length of the hammer a little shorter than average but not so short in can not be used in single action fashion.
