I held and handled one of the new XDm .40's tonight.

I thought the grip on the original XD was nice but geez, I really, really like the new grip. I like the balance of the gun. I like the look. I am amazed at the slimness of the grip while it still contains a magazine that holds 16 rounds of .40 cal ammo. I like the fact the it has a match grade barrel and that it comes with 3 magazines.

I still would like to shoot one before I buy one but, I have read enough reviews that state the gun is accurate and has a trigger pull at least as good as the original, so now I am in full "figure out how to raise the money to get one" mode.

In short, I REALLY liked the feel of this gun.

I doubt I'll ever get one because I don't feel the need for a .40 pistol, but if they ever come out with one in .45, that would be a different story.

Here's a true test for you---sell that G23 to get the money? You wouldn't want to be half XD'd and half G'd would you?

NOOO! You should have known better!! LOL.

I love the .40S&W and that is the smallest that I will CC and any given time. If you shoot it and really want it...go for it, but keep the G23, heh-heh

I have already picked up a couple extra shifts at work for my next purchase. I am saving up for a custom 1911. That is my next big one....

I wanted to hold out to see if they were going to put out a 9mm or a .45ACP. If they do plan on putting out a 45....it will be next on the list. I think they look really nice.

pretty nice gun I'd wait for a 9mm or .45 just personal.. Everytime i go to just look around the shop and waste some time it always ends up costing me...

They have the 45 Compact, you must mean a 45 SUBcompact.

XD's were my first guns and I love them. I have a 40 Subcompact and a 45 Compact Service. Just don't get a 1911, it will ruin the XD for you! Much better trigger and control I feel.

I know you're a Glock man Mike... but yeah, those XD's creep up on ya! I love my XD9sc! I too am anxious to get my hands on one of the new models! I like the idea of the interchangeable backstraps.

Not to worry. I will not give up my Glock. I never sell a gun to buy a gun. I can't do that.
Besides, even though I love the ergonomics of the XD grip, and just this side of hate the Glock grip (though I have learned to adapt to it

) I can't see me wearing any other gun while I ride my bicycle in the heat and humidity of summer here in West Tennessee. I know the G23 isn't going to rust. I have had to shake sweat out of it after a long ride and it hasn't shown the slightest hint of rust, so I know it will handle what I dish out.

I urge all of you guys, Glock guys, XD guys, S&W guys, whatever you may consider yourself, go find an XDm and handle it. You will be impressed.

I can't wait to get one.
Oh, and as far as I know, and have read, Springfield plans to introduce the XDm in 9mm, .45ACP and .357Sig in the near future. And I believe I read that all the models (tactical, compact and sub compact) will be added to the XDm line as well.
