I'm interested in the Beretta 9000s (Type F). Does anyone own one that can tell me what the width is on this pistol? I found one spec sheet that said 1.2" and another said 1.7".

The 1.2 is the width of the slide, the total widest width is about 1.7, because it includes the ambridexitous safety/decocker.
I have one, and have only one problem with it - the magazine release is not flippable, so as a lefty, I have to watch that the release is not tripped. For a lefty, the button is on the side away from the your body.

I have the 9000S in 9mm. I like the gun, but the safety is a bit of a pain...easy to take off, but not so easy to put back on without both hands.
I used the gun with a pistol SD course, and never a problem...but then I discovered a Kimber.
I still have the weapon, but seldom take it with me. (Can be carried cocked and locked...or not...works both ways.)
"That I cannot do."
"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."

I bought my .40 used and have not had any issues with it. I wouldn't want to carry a gun any bigger than a 9000S, however, they are reliable and fairly accurate as a self-defense weapon.
Yes - the issue with the safety seems to be a long term issue on this gun. I have seen many people ocmplain that the switch can break off easily on 1 side.
I love Beretta, but this gun is just too fat in the grip. Its like holding a bar of soap![]()
I have not had a problem with it breaking off, but it was stiff early on. I have developed a method of using my off-hand thumb to take the safety off when firing.
I have not had any issues with putting the safety on, but I do that by rolling to the side to get my firing side thumb under it. Since it my carry gun I automatically check to see if the safety is on every time I pick it up.
Keep in mind that what was learned from the 9000s was passed on to the PX4 Compact.
