Where are you going on vacation?

If you're going to Croatia, take the XD. You'll be able to get parts easily for it. If you're going to Germany, or any EU country, take the HK.

    Oh, heck yeah... Take both!

You leave one at home, it'll be all rusted up when you get back!

Flip a coin, but you probably should go buy a Sig or Glock instead. They perform better on vacation.

If all things are equal (as you said they are), i would take the cheaper of the two guns. My reason is because I always think while on vacation, my risk of theft increases (as I have to leave in my hotel room, gun is in checked luggage at airport out of my control, leave in car and car get's broken into) and I take the gun that would minimize what I would lose. I am about to pick up a cheap XD for my out of state carry gun. Don't want to chance loosing a $1K Kimber.

I would say take both, just in case your home is burglarized when you are away. That way while you are waiting for the insurance company to replace your stolen guns, you would have one for carry and the other for home protection should a family member need to use a gun when you are gone from the house.

Another point to consider is if you are involved in a defensive shooting, the police will at least confiscate your weapon leaving you unarmed temporarily. After you are done with the police interview and have secured a lawyer you can go back to your vehicle or hotel room and rearm yourself with the other gun, that is if your permit has not been seized too.
    God bless our troops!

If you're near the ocean-take the HK.

Space is really at a premium. I think it'll be the XD because I have the Lasermax laser for it...The HK does have a slimmer handle,though.... but with the XD I can take the extra 13 rd clip....What about the SIG? Nah, too big for summer clothes. Speaking of that, the Taurus snubbie would fit in a pocket, and it's got a Crimson Trace grip...Come to think of it, so does the SIG....Damn!!! Now I know what the wife goes through!!!!
