Sure do like the Smith & Wesson Model 10. I prefer larger handguns than most.

I have a s&w 642, I love it. Easy to carry, a little hard on the hands at the range, 100 rounds is enough for me.

    I'll list a few:

    S&W 3" Barrel Model 65 or it's blued variant Model 13
    S&W 686/586
    S&W 66/19
    S&W Pre 27 3.5"

If you do what I did you pass the S&W and go to the Ruger Counter.

    3" GP100
    and a 2/14" SP101

You can have them in any flavor you want, as long as it's Stainless Steel.

IMO a 4" model 19 S&W would be about right. I Carry a 4" GP100 and a 2-1/4" SP101. I'm not fond of the ultra light J Frames as I don't pocket carry guns but many do like them. Your question is a broad one and the answer depends much on your lifestyle and personal needs.

For pocket carry a S&W j-frame, for belt carry, a 3-4 inch barreled .357 from S&W or Ruger sounds about right.

A S&W J frame of any flavor is the top choice, Ruger's SP101 is a good little rocket as well.

Personally I love my Ruger SP 101. Shoots great conceals very easily. I wear it OWB in a Simply Rugged holster, easily conceals under a large T-Shirt.

My favorite gun, although not for SD, is the S&W 686 4", I think every gun collection should have one!! Not saying you can't conceal this wheelie because you can, I just prefer more rounds. If you pocket carry any of the airweights would be a good choice.
How do you plan on toting it? This will affect the responses.

I'd like to get a .357. How long of a "life span" do you get if you cc weapon is made of blue steel?

I think a lot depends on how you want or need to carry it. Your avatar suggest that you have and / or carry a Rossi. That ought to be good for IWB/OWB if its reliable and shoots well. Personally, I'm looking for something a little bigger and heavier than a airweight J frame and just a little smaller and lighter than a SS Speed Six. IMO, the airweights are best suited for ankle and pocket carry - anything else; get something that has some heft to it.

If you do indeed have the Rossi, how do you like it? Looks like the quality is much better than they were 10 years ago.
