Whats the service life of a colt cobra's frame? I ask as I have a '72 cobra that I've owned for a few years now and besides a cylinder full of +p ammo I've only ever shot standard pressure .38 ammo, and not much at that. This being said how do I inspect the frame for damage, what do I look for?
What are signs of a stretched frame? I've also read a way to tell if a previous owner has fired a lot of +p ammo through one of these guns is to look for whats been described as "ratchet marks" inside the frame. What exactly causes these and what do these marks look like? I ask as I just though it prudent to inspect my cobra. In the end if one only fires standard pressure ammo in one these guns is it likely any of these problems will ever occur?
