From what I know of the XD you can't be getting a bad weapon. They have an excellent reputation for reliability.

Just go grab a Kahr before you spend your money.

Just curious as to why you want a .40 vs. .45.(or vs. 9mm) This is not, repeat, not, trying to be critical. ----------

Well.... there is a reason my name is SigmaShooter!!! I bought it as my first handgun and picked it cause it was cheap (NEVER AGAIN)

Thank you all for your great advice. You guys are great.

I really like the XD and it seems like the best gun for me that I have found. I'm sure alot of people post this kind of questions but I wanna make the right choice. I bought a really cheap gun with my first one and don't wanna trust my life with my Sigma.

I want a .40 because my Sigma is a .40 and I don't wanna have to buy alot of different ammo when I go shooting.

I too reccomend you take a look at a Kahr. I like the 9mm as it is effective with good ammo and ammo is so much cheaper to buy. You might find a new home for the Sigma if you do!

The only handgun I own is an XD9 Service. I carry it daily in a CTAC holster. With that holster, the gun disappears on me. I fell in love with the way this gun fit my hand - feels infinitely better than a Glock. And its quite the accurate gun once you get used to it. I've put around 3000 rounds through it so far, without a single issue. It eats every kind of ammo I feed it, including JHPs. I like that there is no standard safety on it too, yet it is still an extremely safe gun.

Just adding my .02 to the mix...

I owned one and think the XD-40 is a great gun. I would not hesitate to carry full time, if I didn't prefer a single stack of .45 in a 1911. The Kahr is something to consider, as well, as several have said, but if you really like the XD, go for it.

At the end of the day, the gun is just a tool. Don't get me wrong - when you need a gun, only a gun will do.

That said, trust your brain with your life.
