Anybody own a Dan Wesson CBOB?

I like the reliability and capacity of my Glocks but my first love is still a 1911. I noticed recently that the CBOB is available in either 45ACP or 10mm, and 10mm is my favorite cartridge. Looking for some feedback. I have told my wife I want one for our anniversary.

Very good guns. I owned one in .45 and I will tell you that DW is the best kept secret in the 1911 world. My only complaint is that the platform should be on a LW frame. That was the sole reason that I sold it. Fit and finish is the best that I have seen on a standard production gun. mine didn't have a machine mark inside or out.

Pardon my ignorance but what is an LW frame?

I think I must posses one of these weapons.

I'm assuming they fit any standard 1911 holster? What about magazine availability? Remember I'm looking at the 10mm, not the 45ACP.

The Dan Wesson CBOB is available in both .45 ACP and 10 mm.

I don't see where magazines would be a problem, it's Commander size, so it will take any standard 1911 10mm stainless magazine.

As far as the holster, it is a 4.25" barrel and not the 4" that Kimber and Springfield make.

LW=Lite weight. It will fit any holster designed for a Commander style pistol. Good 10mm mags are pricey and you will probably have to order them. I use Colt Delta Elite mags. Wilson and Cobra also make good mags.

    Um, I almost own one.

While chatting with my ffl on his porch the other day, he asked me what I had ordered. I told him, and he went into a story about a 1911 he had built and owned for 30-something years. He said that next to it, the Dan Wessons were the smoothest running 1911's he'd shot.

Anyway, I mailed the cashier's check Thursday... today is Sunday... hoping I'll have gun in hand on Saturday.

i have a .45 version, and it's one of the sweetest shooting pistols i've ever shot! IMO, dan wesson 1911's are the hands-down absolute best bang-for-the-buck 1911 available!

    it wears different grips now:

I just picked up a 10mm CBOB. Very nice pistol that is well made. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet so no range report. It's a heck of a lot of gun for the money.

Don't have one yet, but been drooling over them since I had a chance to hold one at the gun show last month. I want one in 45ACP. Best price I've found on one is from gunsamerica.com.

I don't have a cbob, but do own a pmas. I was fortunate to buy this 1911 prior to DW gaining popularity in the 1911 market. Boy do I wish they were still unpopular. The best fit on any 1911 I've owned. I can only assume that the cbob has carried on the same quality.

Watch out for crappy fit and dimensions being off. When you get the gun, make sure the recess in the frame is cut back the additional 1/10th inch than a Government model or you will have expensive repairs. Talk to Bill at Cylinder and Slide about the Dan Wesson Bobtails. He's had hundreds through his shop for the very same thing I stated above. Something that any competent manufacturer should be doing. The tech guys at DW even wanted a buddy of mine to send his Ed brown Kobra Carry into them so they could take measurements and learn from it. What a joke. Buyer beware.
