    Sister just bought Rohm RG10

My sister just bought a Rohm RG10 .22 revolver. After she bought it she looked on the internet and now she is having concerns for safety using the gun. I have not heard of this brand/model before. Does anyone know something about this gun? Any recommendations?

    Thanks

If she bought this gun for personal protection, that would be my biggest concern for safety using this gun. I have never heard of that brand either, but I will look and see what I can find. If she is wanting something for protection, she needs to get something bigger than a .22.

E.T.A. I just did a quick Dogpile search and from what little I did read about it, I would be scared to shoot it myself. I think she would be better off for many reasons, buying a newer and better gun.

She bought it on a whim after shooting with me for a weekend. Just bought it more for fun I think because she has a Ruger Sp 101 in which she shoots 38+p ammo. However this is just an assumption on my part because I haven't spoken to her about it yet. I hope she didn't buy it to carry! I don't feel .22+.22=.44 when it comes to personal protection!
    Thanks Deadeye!

    RG= rotten gun.

I threw one in a pond years ago, where it still sits.

This is the thread from another forum I was reading.

ROHM Model RG10 .22 Short - Shooters Forum

It has a few posts talking about the gun firing two rounds at once. One down the barrel and one out the side of the gun. This gun should not be fired under any circumstance. Please let your sister know so she does not get injured.

Thanks again Deadeye, I'll let sis know what you found. Now just for my knowledge, how can a revolver fire more than one round at a time? What would hit the brass of a cartidge in the cylinder hard enough to make it go bang!

Not real sure how it happened, only that on that thread alone more than one person gave reference to it happening. I looked on other forums and got the same results. I too would be interested in knowing how it happened.

I assume upon firing a round the cylinder somehow jumps it lock, rotates and the next round is also fired as well. At least that is what I gain from the termology.

If you are going to carry something to defend your irreplaceable life with, why not spend a few bucks and get a quality gun that will go BANG every time?

I think the problem is that it goes bang twice every time

ROHM GMBH Sontheim is the Company name. It's a old German Company.

"R.G. Industries was an importer who imported cheap revolvers made by Rohm Gmbh of Sontheim/Brenz Germany. They went out of business in 1986."

I don't know about the .22 RG10, but I do know about the RG-6 shot .38 cal revolver (model IM/BR7). I used one and still have it. Mine was a good shooting gun. I would not rely on it for much though, or in terms of durability. They were a cheap revolver for those who couldn't afford S&W's, etc. ... mainly in the 1960's - 1970's.

Thanks for all the info. I'll pass it along to my sis. I'm sure she regrets buying it. At least she didn't pay much for it. Maybe the police buy back program will allow her a profit :-)
