    Question I'm getting a Springfield XDSC .40

    I'm getting a Springfield XD Sub-Compact .40.

Any suggestions on what accessories I should buy to go along with it?

Congrats on your selection! The XD9SC was my first handgun.

Naturally, a good holster. I would also look into getting some extended mags. If your XD doesn't come with night sights, you may consider them as well. I am a fan of AmeriGlo.

I agree with the night sights if yours did not come with them. I like XS standard dots, or TFOs myself.

A good holster is a must, or two if you want different options on how to carry as I lined out in the other thread.

Extra mags and mag carriers, the XD gear mag carrier is ok if you don't have anything better, but I would suggest to get one or two single mag carriers from blade-tech or another maker, they will hold them closer to your body and keep them from printing as much.

The other option I would consider is a good trigger job from a local smith you know or a from one of these two guys, both provide a real quality service.

The trigger on the XD from the factory is good, but IMO has too much pre/over travel. A good trigger job will reduce that travel quite a bit, and you can bring the trigger down to 4 - 4 1/2 pounds as well if you want.

Please note though there are a lot of people who subscribe to the school of thought that you should never get a trigger job on a carry gun because it might cause problems in court should you ever have to use it. I happen to not be one of those people. Do a search on this forum and you will find several threads debating the topic, and you can decide for yourself what is best.

Oh and I almost forgot, a pierce mag extension for the short mag :)

I'm planning on getting the M-Tac holster from Comp-Tac. Or maybe the C-Tac. But I've heard more good stuff about the M-Tac.

Where'd be a good place to get extended mags?

I like the idea of a good light trigger job for my range XD 45. However, for my concealed carry XD 40 SC, I prefer to leave it as it is, because I am not interested in shooting myself in the butt with a light trigger while trying to get my pistol from a concealed holster.

I am not concerned in the least about legal issue.

I am NOT trying to hijack the thread and start a debate...

You beat me to this one. I was going to say the same. A good belt is especially important with the lil' brick otherwise known as the XDSC.

I got the XD9 and love it. My only regret is that i didn't get the sub-compact version (size and concealability++). XD pistols are awesome.

Get the Heine Straight Eights or XS Big Dot Tritiums... Both can be installed at the Springfield Custom Shop prior to shipping to the dealer.

I ordered the XS Big Dot Tritiums on my XD9sc and am glad I did. I've heard they are a fairly tough installation if try to do it yourself.

I am sold on the Big Dots too! Great choice and faster sight acquisition.

I recently fondled one. I had never picked an XD up because I THOUGHT I wouldn't like them. Boy, was I wrong! I really like the feel of them. Does anyone know how well the blueing on the slide holds up to being carried all the time? The guy at the guy store said it was similer to the Tennifer finish on a Glock. Anyone have an idea?

    UpLula

Here's a good accessory, and in fact everyone should get one while they are at it. The XD does come with a mag loader, but this one is 1000x better and much faster; the UpLula:

I have an XDSC .40 and if I was to buy again I would get the night sites. You shouldn't need a mag loader after you fill it up a couple times because the spring will become much more forgiving.

You might want to get Pearce extensions for the short mags if you aren't comfortable with your pinky hanging off. I have the extensions on mine and it really doesn't make it any harder to conceal.
