    H&k p2000?

Been recently looking at this model for a new carry piece. Went to the H&K USA Website and find that the their website certainly is lacking in sharing product information. There is no mention of what their weapons are finished with e.g. melonite etc... Nor does it say whether the P2000 .40s&w is a polymer framed gun or steel. It does mention Polymer Grip but thats it... Also, does anyone know how the finish holds up regarding holster wear.

Can someone shed some light on the P2000?

    Thanks in advance...

    Dave

Finish holds up well (leather will wear better than a plastic holster though).
The finish is their HE (hostile environment) which just looks like a light coat of black matte spray paint, but it works.
    Polymer frame.
    Balances well
    2.5" 50 round group at 7.5 yards.
Recoils less than many heavier 9mm pistols I've shot.
    Should come with night sights.
Mine doesn't like reloads, but has never hickupped on factory ammo.
Easy to field strip (say 5 seconds?).
Barrel is tough as nails, easy to clean, and will last forever.
Fit and finish is very nice, tight fit and smooth metal everywhere--no rough surfaces.
    BUY IT. THEY ROCK

There's a link on hk-pro.com called "watch me break my p2000"
He got bored after so many thousands of rounds and eventually gave up.

All current HKs are polymer frame. You may want to investigate the similar HK P30. You will have to choose the trigger style prefered, SA/DA or LEM. The finish wears well. My P2000SK has not been out of its holster for about 2 1/2 years and still looks new. The P2000 is a very good pistol. The Greg Bell posts are very educational as well as entertaining, as in "...I decided to throw my P2000 on the ground several times..."

Here is a good place to purchase if you want factory night sights. The pistol is also shipped from Clyde with three magazines. A good value for the price.

That is a great deal! H&K makes nothing but quality stuff.

    I can't say enough about my P2000 9mm v3 (DA/SA).

It's my everything gun: EDC, IDPA, Range.

It's extremely accurate; on a bet, I broke a 12 oz. pop bottle at over 40 yards with one shot. It has never FTEject or FTFeed in almost 2,000 rounds.

It disappears when I carry it in my IWB from TT GunLeather High Quality Leather Gun Holsters . It's also comfy too.

Buy it. I don't think you'll ever regret it.

Which catalog is that in? My current one, (2008-4), reads different.

Must have been last year, around the time I was looking at buying mine... so March 07? I looked at the new catalog and was not impressed... What happened over there? Forget to buy guns to sell this quarter?

I did call CDNN this last Friday and they did quote me over the phone a price of $659 but he told me that it not include NS... I forgot to ask him what version was being sold for that amount?

It was a V3, in your choice of 9, 357, and 40, with 3 mags and night sights...
Thinking about it, I believe I was incorrect on the price. It was $679, NIB. They might have changed prices, but you'll have to call to find out as the price I'm quoting was actually listed in their catalog, but now it just says "CALL". I tried to go through them for mine but they were out of stock for a few weeks, so I got mine at the Nation's Gun Show for 739 (w/NS, but only 2 mags).

Good post. I thought I knew all the best websites
Some of those prices are REALLY good, but didn't see a p2k on the list? Do you have to call or something?

I've owned two HK's and they were superb. I have wanted a P2000 for a long time but have settled on my less expensive Steyr with no regrets. Having said that, if you have patience and troll the AR15 and GlockTalk forums, I have seen some to-die-for deals on all versions.

I have 34 handguns and my P2K's have replaced everything else for most situations.
    I have a 9mm and a 40/357Sig.
Mine are LEM and after much practice I have decided this is the weapon I'll take with me to LFI.

I do most of my practice with my 9mm but carry the 357Sig most of the time. The only thing I did for the 357 Sig was to put MMC adjustable combat rear sights on it as the 40 and 357Sig don't shoot to the same point of aim.

I reload in all three calibers and they eat anything I make. However they don't like soft lead bullets. If you are going to use a lead bullet use Bulletmeister and keep the velocity low. I tend to use Montana Gold bullets with my reloads and they shoot tiny groups.
I shoot a lot as I don't want to make a fool of myself at LFI, let alone stay alive in a gun fight.
