    Kahr PM45

So I have seen a few reviews on this gun and they seem to be positive, but have heard a few on here say that the p45 was not worth the extra effort over say a p9. I think if it is not too recoil heavy this could be an excellent pocket pistol or "belly gun." Does anyone have one of these? Speak up.

Hi Jwhite, I own both the PM9 and the PM45. Actually, I should say my wife owns the PM9, but I've shot it a bunch. Overall, I think the 45 is easier to shoot and has "a less sharpe" recoil. I could be fooling myself of course, but my wife thought the same thing. I was a little worried about the 45's recoil in such a small frame when we first bought these. But, I was pleasantly surprised. I'll explain.

In newbie terms, the PM45 has a heavy thud type feel. It drives back into the palm of the hand more as compared to a sharper crack/bounce recoil of the PM9. Maybe it's the shorter barrel. Could be the velocity of the 9mm round as compared to the .45. I have a 1911 and a full size 9 and I think the .45 is smoother there as well, but the 9 has less recoil overall. I can only tell you of my experience, so take it with a grain of salt! I'm certain some of the ammo/gun experts here could explain what I've described feel/recoil wise.

One last comment, you can check Khar's website for the actual specs, but the PM45 weighs about 19.4 oz and the PM9 is a few oz's lighter. Plus, the 45's frame is a touch larger overall too. So, I say that to say I wouldn't carry my PM45 in my pocket, but I would carry the 9. They have served us well so far, hope it continues.
