Glock Question...

I just bought a new G30SF this week and have only be able to put 50 rounds through it. My question is does anyone have any tips on taking the slide off the frame. I have been trying to this throughout the day.

First I will pull back on the slide about 3/4 to 1 inch.
Second pull down the two small plastic pieces to release the slide off of the frame. But when I let go of the slide to let it move past the front of the gun and come off, it will not come off.

I could be doing something wrong, plesae let me know if anyone has any tips or seen this before. Thanks.

Newer Glocks require you to hold the trigger back while attempting to remove the slide.

If, when you pull the slide back, you hear the trigger set, you've drawn the slide back too far. It only needs to be drawn back about 1/4". The trigger must be in the uncocked (fired) condition in order for the slide to move forward. It's a little tricky at first but once you get the hang of it, it is really simple. I understand your frustration. I had the same difficulties early in my Glock ownership. Be persistent and remember, if you hear the trigger click into position when you draw back the slide, you've gone too far and have to release the trigger and start over.

Step 1: With EMPTY gun, dry fire it.
Step 2: Pull slide back slightly (I'm talking like maybe 1/4").
Step 3: While holding the slide back, use other hand to depress slide-lock "tabs"
Step 4: Allow slide to move forward and it should slip right off the frame.

It's the 'trigger' pull that you missed...

Glocks are one of the easiest semi's to break down.

Congratulations on your choice of Glocks... everyone should own a Glock, but after you buy one you will want to buy a second and then a third or more.

Never say "watch this". I did as I was showing a friend how easy it was to field strip the Glock. I didn't keep it angled upward, but downward--the slide came off and landed with a resounding "clunk" on the dining table.
