My mom just bought a gun that doesn't exist.

I've been helping my mom find a handgun for concealed carry... she's never shot handguns at all, so today, after lots of internet shopping and lots of going to the store and handling different weapons, we went and shot a few. She shot my 1911, the HK45 that I rented, a service model XD and a Walther PPS. She really loved the XD. Of course with all her internet reading (including lurking here some) she discovered the XDM and the fact that it might be coming out soon in 9mm... so she handled the XD9 service and the current .40 XDM... she finally decided to put a deposit down on a stainless XDM in 9mm when it comes out... so she'll get the first one that Target Master in Garland get whenever it comes out... lol

She was fairly annoyed at spending $400 and not leaving with a new toy... but she had fun and shot really well for a first timer.

At least she is getting one. I am with her on spending the money and not being able to take it home. I am very impatient when it comes to something like that. Hopefully it won't take to long for it to come in.

She loved the way the .40 felt in her hand - she just didn't want a .40... she's convinced she'll find the perfect weapon and she'll only need to buy one... I decided not to tell her what an addiction this becomes... =)

Congrats to you getting her in to it. And congrats to her for going all the way with concern for her own safety. More women should be this way.

Cool mom! Thats great that she has made the choice to protect herself, congrats on that. Plus, that new XDM looks really nice too.

The XD(M) 9mm is on my list, too. Great choice and to your Mom on her first purchase.

You have a cool mom that's for sure. Now the bad news... if she's like most women, she'll shoot the pants off you!

Sounds like a smart lady. With modern 9mm JHP loads, the .40 shows little
    advantage to me.

Much sharper recoil and usually less capacity.

    The NINE is FINE!
