    Should I trade my precious SIG?

    Hey all. I've been bitten by the 1911 bug pretty damn badly. I'm wondering if it would be possible for me to trade my certified pre-owned Sig Sauer P-226 for a Taurus PT-1911 or Springfield Armory 1911 Mil-Spec. What are your thoughts? Any idea how much money I would have to pay towards the new gun? Should I even do this? I love my Sig, but there's nothing like a 1911. Also, does anybody in Vegas know any good dealers than accept trades?

    I don't know what your Sig is worth but you can find the Taurus for about $700. I have the PT 1911 and I really like it but to sell one gun to buy another is something I don't usually do unless the one I am selling is just taking up space or I just don't like it at all.

    If the Sig is your only handgun and you like it, I'd avoid getting rid of it. You'll want a spare if you every need to send one into the shop.

    Never trade or sell a gun you like to get another. You'll regret it, I promise. I know from experience. I miss you Remington 700!

    Sig for mil spec or Taurus?? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! That would definitely not be an equal trade, by far.

    I would never trade a Sig for any Taurus handgun.

    A cert pre-owned Sig for a SA 1911 MilSpec...maybe I would do that.

    You're not going to get what the gun is worth in a trade. You would do the best by selling it outright. But that said, I'm with the others- Don't sell the Sig. If you really want a 1911, save a little each month until you can afford to buy one. If you trade orsell the Sig, you're just going to regret it down the road. Saving isn't that hard, even on the tightest budgets, just a little until you reach your goal. I usually buy from the Gun Store, on East Trop. But I know that they would only give you half of what you paid for a used gun-Hey, they've got to make a profit.

    Bird in that hand is worth 2 in the bush. You are thinking about trading a bird in the hand for one in the bush.

    Sent a PM, think about selling it rather than trading, as most times you lose $$.
    I like my PT 1911, but I don't carry it...................yet.

    Don't do it!!! You'll regret it later. Save the money and buy the SA Mil-Spec. They are shooters! Mines 17 YOA and with a few mods is still my House Gun. Added a Wilson trigger, hammer, beavertail drop in safety and an Ed Brown ambi safety and the gun is 100% reliable.

    I only will trade in a gun that I have no confidence in. That said, I wouldn't trade a Sig for any Taurus. That is a definite downgrade, and not a lateral move.

    I recently had to dump a S&W M&P .40c because it was a lemon but I moved into a Walther PPS 9MM so I do not consider that a downgrade. The PPS is a very sweet tool BTW. Just check out the slimness of the PPS compared to a SA XD40SC and a Ruger LCP...

    No.

    The number of guns you need is easily determined by a simple mathematical equation:

    x = n+1

    where n equals the number of guns you currently own.

    "Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."
