    Talking My New Baby

I finally bought myself a new sidearm the day before last. Previously I was happy using my Star 9mm mid-size pistol, but decided I would like to try something a bit different. After much research and advice from other firearm enthusiast, I was focusing on the .357 sig, .40, and .45. Once I learned, what I felt, was more than enough as far as the caliber wars go, I decided if I wanted another mid-size or small pistol, I'd be set with either the 40 or 357... But I decided to go for a full-size pistol, so the choice was clear to me. I bought a .45.

What made me choose the 45 is how often I noticed even the "cheap" defensive ammo seemed to be producing healthy numbers. I also couldn't ignore how effective .45 ball ammo was compared to other caliber's ball ammo. My thought is, even if my hollow point doesn't expand, I've got a stout bullet doing work... So, the choice was clear for me.

Thank you all. I'm sure I will enjoy this pistol. I need something that can serve as a ccw just as much as a service pistol, and I think the XD will fill both roles very well.

I am enjoying reading up on what 230 grain ammo I am going to use, and even more so, my holster options. I imagine I'll be asking plenty of questions on the holster options. :)

Congrats on your new pistol and wise choice of caliber.

    Stay armed...with a .45...stay safe!

I think you made a wise choice. The .45 definitely knows how to "git 'er dun"!

Congrats on that new pistol. The old 45acp is still a great round.
