    New toy

Well I took the plunge tonight. Had been looking and drooling over the SIG 1911 RCS. Couldn't hold out any longer, so went to the gun store and brought her home. Now have to wait until Thursday, after work to go shoot it. OF course will also need an IWB holster and another spare mag for it. Once she has proven reliable I will make her my EDC gun. BTW I think my CZ P-06 is jealous!!

Nice looking pistol! Any particular reason you went with Sig for a 1911?

I liked the way it fit my hand, and it gave me the features I was looking for. That and it was about $100.00 less than the Kimber.

In all due respect sir, that is not a toy, it's a very fine tool!

    Congratulations on one excellent choice.

    Sa-weeeeeet!!!

That's one fine-looking handgun. Now just add a couple of Wilson mags.

But, is that an external extractor? We know all about Kimber's misstep with it. Any concerns with Sig's approach?

Why Wilson mags? With the money that he paid, shouldn't he be able to use the Sig magazines?

I think that's one thing that Sig actually did right with the gun, the external extractor seems to be working well for them as well as S&W, it's a different design than what Kimber tried to use.

IIRC the GSRs only come with two mags, you always need more. In most cases the factory mags that come with 1911s are garbage, don't get me going on the price of the gun and the crappy mags but it's the truth in most cases.

Sig was using Checkmate magazines, I don't know what they are issuing with the gun now, for some reason I seem to recall that they are packaging Novak ACT mags with the newer guns. I've had no issues with the ACT mags. I don't have much input on the Checkmates as to my knowledge I've never had a batch.

Most people prefer the features of the Wilson or other brand magazine to the factory mags, in most cases 1911 fans will have large enough stock pile of after market mags that the original factory mags will just stay in the box.

Archer, that's a sweet looking piece, make sure you shop around for holsters wisely, the different profile of the Sig slide makes holster shopping a pain in the rear.

    That's a great piece -

I wished I had gotten that over my C3 just for the rounded edges. I love my C3 and they are basically the same gun other than a few cosmetic changes - You will love it - I have an Alessi IWB for mine (PCH) and it fits great. See this thread for more on holsters and a pic of mine:
