I am not from Mass, but occassionaly communicate with someone from Mass. Here is the list from Mass that lists the approved ones.

Looks like you are good to go with a G23.

Nice big brother you guys have there in Massachusetts. I guess if you want a 1911 it has to be a Smith & Wesson. There are no Kimber, Wilson, Nighthawk or Springfields on the list.

The above-referenced list is less than 1/2 the equation wrt what MA Dealers can sell. Read Carefully the 1st few paragraphs in that document!

    Here's the scoop:

    - Guns must be on the EOPS List (ref posted above),
    - THEN, they must also be certified (by mfr) to meet the nebulous AG Regs.
    - ONLY those that meet both criteria can be sold in MA by DEALERS (NO restrictions on possession or private transfers between MA residents with MA LTC-A).

    Exceptions to the above:

    - EOPS List exemption for guns that were in MA on 10/21/1998,
    - AG Regs exemption for any guns MADE before a certain date in 1998 (not certain, believe it to be June 1998),
    - AG Regs exemption for LEOs. NO such exemption for EOPS List.

Think of this as anti-dealer legislation, as possession and private transfer is legal. Only MA Dealer transfers are restricted.

    Glock specific info:

    - Glocks have been on the EOPS List for a long time. At least this allows LEOs to buy new Glocks.

    - Glock certified that they met the AG Regs and started to sell in MA (a number of years ago). AG sent letter to Glock stating that in the AG's opinion, the Loaded Round Indicator was non-compliant and demanded that all guns sold be recalled and Glock cease and desist all non-LEO sales.

    - Glock conceded and decided to withdraw from the MA market (except to LE).

WRT where you can buy Glocks in MA:

    - Expect to pay a hefty premium for any Glocks you find in MA due to limited supply and high demand. Used G23s usually go for $500-600 and G26/27s for $600-700 in MA.

    - No idea where you are in MA but here are two dealers that regularly sell used/refurb Glocks.

    Latest arrivals:

    Zero Hour Arms

I'm sure that there are other places as well.

The For Sale section in Northeastshooters.com New England's Premier Shooting Forum also frequently lists Glocks. The good deals frequently get snapped up on that forum in a matter of hours.

No Colt either! But there are more 1911's than S&W. RIA, AutoOrdinance, SIG, and Para also have 1911's represented in the list. Still seems like a stupid law, though, without much rhyme or reason. And I thought CA restrictions were bad!

any G23 is legal to own in MA (assuming you have a CHL-A) but there are some catches.

it is not legal for a dealer to sell a post 98(?) glock, so you have to buy it privately. The only way to get a newer glock into MA is for a non resident to own it, then MOVE INTO MA and sell it privately.

Also, post 1994 hicap mags are forbidden.

Is a cretin Glock a Glock owned by a cretin?
