If you could spend the $$ all over again?

Knowing what you know now, if you could start all over again. With a budget of $1000, what would you buy to be good to go for CC? Looking for new/used, weapon/holsters combos that would total a grand (approx.). I have bought gear that I never use and handguns that are just part of the collection never in service. A lot of the money spent I wished I'd just bought ammo. My EDC=S&W,M&P40c @ $500 new, Bug=642 @ $350 used. Holsters- MTAC, SmartCarry & Mikes pocket carry approx. $150 for all 3. Would like to hear how others would spend their $$. :blink:

Springfield XD45C ($550), Crossbreed Supertuck ($70), 3rd mag ($30), Tru Glo TFOs ($120 installed) and pocket the change.

I'd buy a Colt LWT Commander, a Max-Con V holster, spare mag pouch (of various make) and some quality defensive ammo (Rem. Golden Saber, Fed. Hydra-shok, etc.). That comes to right around $1000 by my rough calculations.

Edit: I've been wearing gun belts since long before having my carry permit (a Milt Sparks) as well as having spare mags galore.

I would have started out with my Kimber Ultra Carry II and a Brommeland Max Con V, a Brommeland belt, and some extra Kimber Pro mags. That should get you in the 800-900 range which leaves plenty of money for practice and defensive ammo.

Here's what I'd get.

Glock 19 $500
M-Tac IWB Holster $85
Extra mags $50
ammo $200
Total $835

Oh wait, that's what I already have!

I would change nothing, I got what I wanted and needed. Everything else was just extra to expand my choices as weather and times have changed.
My EDC and Bug stayed the same for years untill manufacturing caught up with peoples desires.

Besides I got more for the $1000 back then. Now it would hardely pay for one pistol I like.

Probably, a 642 and if enough left over an XD 9; That would probably come to where there is just barely enough money left over for a pocket holster and an IWB.

Another option; a Ruger LCP 380 or Kahr 380 when it comes out and an XD 9.

I'd buy a Glock 19 and a Glock 23.... save a little money after that and buy one holster which could then be used by both guns... both very reliable guns, and I already have reloading equipment and capability to reload both.

As a second option to keep within the same caliber would be the Glock 19 and the Glock 26... another excellent combination, and a Glock 19 holster can work for both the Glock 19 and Glock 26... at least for a while.

SP 101 in .327, make my holster, and buy $500 in Ammo.

If I consider the guns I carry most, I think I would have to choose a 642 due to light weight, and ease of loading and unloading. In addition, my wife could "operate" it.

The holster would probably be a Fist #12 due to less waiting time. I would prefer, however, an Alessi CQC/S.

I would settle for a RafterS sharkskin belt.

Now, why do I also carry a Kahr P9 so much, and even a SA LW SS Compact?
I would find it hard to settle on one.

If I wanted a semi-auto it would probably be a G26 to stay within the $1000 price range.

There is my 1000 bucks. Gives me the options to carry in just about any type of dress or enviroment.
