    XD45

So, I bought a XD45 service with night sights for a great price today. Only problem is, with 13 rounds in the mag, it won't seat. Will this work it's self out as the mag spring loosens? I mean 12 rounds is great and all, but it says 13 on the mag, ya know what I mean?

So you can fit 13 rounds in the mag, but it won't go in the gun all the way? Making sure I read it right.

    1) With 13 rounds in the magazine, does the top round visibly "stick out" past the feed lips? If it doesn't, try seating the magazine with more force (read, slam it in there).

    2) Unload and fully reload the magazine a few times to "break in" the spring a little bit and try it again.

    Peace,
    Pete Zaria.

Both mags do this? That's pretty strange, but my XD-M had a hard time seating a topped off 16-rounder when I first got it. It's pretty broke in now.

I believe if you just load 12 rounds for a while, the mag will loosen up and you can get that 13th round in easier. That may be better than forcing the issue so to speak. It's not uncommon for the last round to be tight for a while.

Leave it loaded with 13 when not in the gun.
Slamming mags in can seperate the feed lips.

Just a firm push on the bottom of the mag will seat it. I have never had problems carrying 13 in my mags. I keep one in the chamber though so I only have 12 in the mag.

Lock the slide back, insert full magazine, release slide, one goes in the chamber, problem solved.

If you are afraid to carry chambered, then you may want to choose another version with a thumb safety.
I am consistently on record and will continue to be on record as opposing concealed carry.

When I bought my XD45 Service pistol the mags that came with it and the two extra I bought at the same time all had the same problem that the OP described. Loaded all with 12 rounds and let them sit around and, eventually, the 13th could be loaded. That was about 2 years ago and now all will load easily. Patience is the watchword here.

I carry with one in the chamber and a full mag. Only takes a sec to drop the mag and add another bullet. But I also carry an extra mag, so I usually have 31 rounds of Winchester Ranger SXTs on me at all times.

When I first got my XD45 I had a hard time getting past round 11. After doing some shooting and letting the mags stay loaded they loosened up and loading 13 was no problem. It is just a breakin issue and will loosen up shortly.

Wait until you break it it?

Didn't have to do that with my Glocks (or Kimbers)., but I digress...I guess it wouldn't hurt to go with the 12 for a while...if you can't get 'em with 12, one more isn't really going to matter.

Because Glocks are so superior to XDs? Hey, a glockophile looking down on the rest of us. How uh... rare.

Use the silly magazine loader that came with the kit. It does help.
