    Question M&P Compact .40 or Glock 23

I'm going to be buying my next carry gun soon and am debating with myself over the merits of either a M&P Compact .40 or a Glock 23.

The M&P feels better than the Glock, but I'm also concerned about reliability. Any input from anyone who has owned either (or both!) is appreciated.

Plenty of guys on the M&P forums.
    I'm liking my 9mm Compact.

Equally as reliable as any Glocks I've owned in the past.
Better trigger and ergos for me.

    The day of the pics.
    I shot a G23 and my M&Pside by side. I much prefer the M&P
Somewhat cheaper than a Glock, too. Also got two free mags with
    the rebate:)

I have the fullsize and much prefer it to any Glock that I've ever shot.

I'm a Glock fan, but if you can beat the Glock on price...and it fits you better, then I'd say go for the M&P. Thing is, I don't really know how it stacks up for mag capacity....and----a pic like that really makes me wonder how anyone could call a Glock ugly.

How about a Glock 32 .357 Sig with an additional drop-in .40 barrel or a 9mm conversion barrel? You'd have a great choice of cheap ammo, and the opportunity to go with a HOT .357 load.

Of the two, I'd still go with the Glock...I'm old, I like 'old reliability'...just me!

Use the weapon that works best for you.
I personally use a Glock 23 and have had no issues with the firearm.

I have the mp compact in 40 cal. No problems at all, and I believe smith has a 50 dollar rebate going on now too.

That's the where I'm having problems making the decision. Glocks are just plain reliable time after time. But they don't feel right in my hands where the M&P does. I like the feel of the M&P but since this will be a carry weapon I also want that "always goes bang" reliability.

Hmm. Another potential solution. The idea of dropping in a 9mm barrel and shooting 9mm at the range isn't a bag idea? Is the barrel the only thing I would have to swap out, or would the spring need to be changed too?

The 40c is my EDC, 1000+ rounds trouble free. Like the way it shoots, feels nice in hand and easy to CC.

Ugly doesn't bother me. I want something I can shoot well and goes bang when it's supposed to. The G23 holds 13+1 where the M&P is 10+1.

If I get the M&P I need to make sure I don't get one with the magazine safety. That feature I don't want.

Does yours have the magazine safety?

I have heard that the M&P .40C had issues with the magazine catch. Maybe someone can elaborate.

I am on my second G23. My job just traded in our old 2nd generations for 3rd. I love this one even more. I had several thousand rounds through my 2cd gen without any malfunctions. Glock reliability is remarkable.

If you don't like the grip, try a Hogue slip on grip. It will feel much better.

    Good luck.
