Coming Full Circle - Back To Carrying a Glock

Maybe I'm just going in circles!

When I received my carry permit a little less than two years ago, I decided that I'd carry a Glock 23. My decision was in part based upon a recommendation from my best friend who happens to be a Fed Probation/Parole Officer. I am a decent shot with the 23 but was just never quite satisfied with my consistency during range sessions. On top of that, being a newbie w/ CCW, I had some issues with the lack of an external safety on Glocks.

Thus began the search for MY "perfect" carry piece.

My search led me first to a H&K USP40c, then to a Sig P250c in 9mm & later to a Sig P239 in 40 S&W. Through the process I got over the external safety thing and I figured out that I just flat shoot a 9mm better than a 40 S&W. Even though my P250 has been flawless through +/- 2500 rounds, I just didn't feel like it was the best choice for carry.

I began to ponder my options & kept arriving at the conclusion that a Glock was what I wanted to carry for all of the reasons that make them what they are. So, two weeks ago I went to the gun shop/range I frequent and decided to rent their Glock 19 & give it a whirl. Suffice to say we liked each other...alot!

As fate would have it, the shop just happened to have a NIB G19 in stock. I talked the shop owner into trading...cash for the Glock . I brought her home!

I installed Meprolight night sights on her & I've run 400 flawless rounds through her thus far. Saying that I am very pleased with the accuracy of this pistol is a huge understatement! I ordered a G19 body for my MTAC Minotaur which arrived yesterday.

    So, here's my new baby:

Same here. .40 is not a congenial round to learn on.

Glad you found something you're finally comfortable with, but what was it that your friend recommended? Did he recommend for you to start carrying or to pick up a Glock 23?

Almost exactly what I've done. Now I carry a Glock 17. But unfortunately, I doubt the circles have ended for me. I'll probably be carrying a Sig 229R DAK before long and so another circle forms.

I couldn't hit the side of a barn 10 yrs ago with a G19. I'm sure they are more accurate now. I'll just keep my Sigs thanks.

I made the decision to carry. My buddy recommended the G23 due to its size/weight/capacity/reliability etc. It was & I believe still is his duty weapon.

The Glock 19, best one they make, IMHO.

I too am coming back to the Glock, eventhough I'm a Revolver man. I'll probably carry my 19 more and more for the next couple of years, and then go to something else for a change.

I only own one Glock, sold the 36 and traded the 34. I'm thinking a 32/33 combo is next on my list. They don't feel good in my hand, but they sure seem to shoot good.

I just posted a blog today about Glocks and how hard they are to beat when it comes to carrying among other things.

Took the G19 to the range today.

IDPA target: 50 rounds of 115 gr. Independence ammo from 7 yards.

    Hostage target: +/- 75 rounds of WWB 115 gr. @ 7 yards.

The pictures tell the rest of the story!

No matter what gun I try to carry, I always come back to my tried and true Glock 19.
