Who owns a Glock 36? Opinions of it requested.

I am looking for a 45 to carry.

I like my Glocks, and I would like to carry something small.

The Glock 36 seems to fit the bill.

I do however remember that the G36 did have some problems when it first came out. Is that still the case?

Are there any serial number ranges to stay away from? Locally two are for sale that are used for $450 each. They are listed in 95% condition.

What problems have you had with yours? Drawbacks? Pros? Cons?

    Any help would be appreciated.

My Glock 36 has been completely reliable and very easy to carry. I usually prefer to carry my S&W 1911PD in the Commander size, but there are times I just like to use the light weight G36. The only problem I had with the Glock was that Crimson Trace does not make a laser grip for it.

I was told last week it is no longer in production. Can someone verify?

I love my Glocks, but the ONLY reason I carry them is for capacity. For a weapon that packs 7 or 8 rounds, I'll take a 1911 version anytime.

I like my 1911's too but have adopted my 36 as my EDC. It carries easier than my 26 or my Kimber Custom. Might try a Kimber Ultra some day but the Glock 36 has been almost as flawless as its 19 and 26 cousins. It always surprises me how much thinner and more comfortable the grip seems to be holstered.

Still carry my Kimber CDP with thin grips as my "dress" gun but the 36 is for casual wear I guess.

I have a very early one and it's been flawless concerning functional reliability.
Some of the early ones had a bit too much "play" in the magazine well which allowed too much front to back movement of a fully inserted magazine and that caused a feed problem.
That is no longer any sort of problem.
There were just enough of them that "got out" with that frame to give the 36 a bad rap and reputation.
Actually on the very remote chance that you did get one with a feed problem - Glock would just replace the frame at no cost.

Glock.com still shows the 36 in .45acp. Give them a call to make sure.

That is a rumor circulating on the boards, but there is no indication that it is true on their website or elsewhere that I can find.

I own two model 36s. One I bought outright, and the other I got a great deal on an even swap, so I couldn't resist. It and the model 27 are my favorite carries. Both 36s have been flawless.

My 36 has never failed me. It is my go everywhere gun. I will never get rid of it. For me, it is the ideal ccw pistol.

Are the magazines much thinner than the G26/27's? I saw a pic with them side by side, and they looked very similar in width. Didn't know if this was so, or if it was just the way the pic was taken?
