    Question SIG P226 or P229?

After doing much online research I've decided that my next CCW will be a SIG, and I've decided to go with either a P226 or a P229.

I usually carry IWB, so I'm trying now to determine which of the two are easier to conceal and carry comfortably. The P229 is about .6 inch shorter, but it's a bit wider. (Unfortunately I couldn't find a gunshop that had one of each to do a side by side comparison.)

So I'd like to ask those of you with real experience with these two sidearms which tends to be easier to carry?

Gee... I'd have to go with the 229 but its really a toss up. The 226's grip is a bit longer making it slightly harder to conceal, but its no big deal.

I have a 228 (same size as 229). I have held a 226. The 226 is a great duty gun. But for comfort and concealed carry I would go with the 229.

I have a P226 and a P225(not P6). You may want to look at the P225/P6 series. Basicly the same length as the P229, but with out the thicker grip. Makes a nice slim package for CCW.

+1 for the 225 (not P6). I've had one for years and like it alot. Easy to conceal and feels the best of any Sig in the hand. Carry 8+1 of 124 gr Golddots. I also have a 226 but do not carry it. I use it to shoot USPSA. It's a little big for carry IMO.

Check out the 225. You'll be glad you did.

    I carry a 226. 220, or Pro BUT would gladly have a 229.

Michael Bane of Shooting Gallery carries a 225.

I pick the 229 over the 226, but there is very little difference. I have both.

I was torn between the same two and chose the P229. I like the size better for CCW.

Don't forget to check out the new Sig P229 SAS (Sig Anti Snag, no Pic.Rail). Its almost as easy to conceal as a P239.

    Third Sig alternative

I own both the P226 and the P229. The P229 is a little smaller and probably easier to conceal, but it is fairly wide and heavy for an aluminum frame gun. If carry is your main objective, I'd go with a single stack P239, which is smaller than both and easier to conceal. You give up a few rounds in the magazine, if that affects you.

I own a P226, and have owned a P239... The P239 was too small for me... I had plans on buying a P229, but found the Glock 23 more to my liking and my bank account liked it a lot more also... between those two I'd choose the P229.

That's another thing that I like about Sig. Plenty of options!

It is a bit of a toss up isn't it? Sig gives you so many options it can be hard to pick one. Makes you want to buy more than one!

I love them both but my vote is a 229 in 357 Sig.

With the P229 there's not much difference in magazine capacity between the 9mm and .357 SIG versions, but ammo for the .357 SIG seems to be hard to find around here from what I've seen. I could order it online, but I like to have it locally available too.

I supposed I could ask my favorite gunshop to order it for me as well. He keeps some on hand, but says there is very little demand for it.
