    Dan Wesson CBOB "clank"

Just bought a DW Commander Bobtail a little while back. So far I really like it. Carries much better than I thought it might. Shoots very well.

However, one issue. When I walk, I "clank". The lightweight/hollow grip safety is so lightweight, that it rattles or clanks as I walk.

Or, is this a function of the mainspring? Is that not putting enough pressure on the safety?

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Not a huge problem so far, but I have gotten a couple of strange looks. Maybe I'm just sensitive.

My beavertail is slightly loose as well. It really involves no pressure at all for depression. Doesn't really bother me though. No different than people walking around with change in their pocket.

If it requires no pressure for depression, you've got a sear spring problem.

No pressure needed for the grip safety? You need to see a 'smith'...

I also have a CBOB and my grip safety is firm. It takes a good grip to press. It's not hard, but it is not loose by any stretch of the imagination.

You can definitely feel resistance on it when you depress it.

When you shake your gun in any direction it should not rattle at all. If it does, that's bad. Have it looked at. Dan Wesson has an excellent service department.

Gently bend the one prong out a bit more to put a bit more pressure on the grip safety.
Don't put a hard kink in it - just carefully increase that spring curvature a bit more.
That is exactly the way a custom smith would tune it.
    Then it won't rattle anymore.

Was going to try that, but had an extra Wolff sear spring.

    Solved the problem.

    Thanks.
