    Just bought a Bersa

Bersa Thunder 380 CC. I paid $310 and since I'm a CHL holder, no wait. Now I just need a good holster. Any suggestions? Also, I was told to not use hollow points in this gun due to jams and stove pipes. Is this true?

GREAT little pistols if you ask me. I've had two and I loved them both. 100% reliable with anything I fed them. I didn't have the CC model though. Here is a few pics of my first one.

Bersa is a nice pistol and can't beat the price.
I have a Bersa CC and Thunder Plus. I fire American Eagle ball and Hydro shocks through both and haven't had any issues with either.

I have shot everything in my Bersa without any issues. That said, I carry FMJ for improved penetration in a .380.

I carry OWB in a Bianchi 7. Holds the gun TIGHT and HIGH!

Great Gun. I loved my 380cc. My wife decided she liked so much that she was going to keep it. I still get to carry it now and then. I haven't heard about any hollowpoint issues with it. Ours shoots anything we feed it. We keep it loaded with powerballs.

I love my Bersa Firestorm .380 gun- awesome shooter and I have never had a stovepipe issue. I would say shoot 200 rounds through it just to break it in though.

GREAT GUN, and buy a couple different kinds of JHP just to see what shoots best for you- Honestly though I have never had a problem with mine, and I shoot it allot!

(and for the record I also carry a G 27 CCW in addition to the G 23 - but the Bersa has a special place as a backup- ankle gun)

Bersa is a nice pistol and is undervalued in today's market

Personally I like that you can get them cheaper. They are such good guns, its nice. A great ladies purse gun, or ankle backup etc, reliable, low recoil, easy sight acquisition, and with the right ammunition as good a stopper as any 9 mm (same diameter slightly slower, but has the expansion etc with good ammo.- see viewpoints) and yes you can get +p ammunition which allows for faster bullets!

Bersas are notorious for exactly the opposite. A high percentage of Bersas off the shelf will eat any ammo you put into it. A stovepipe has absolutely nothing to do with the projectile shape, etc. If anything, a hollowpoint would inhibit feeding.

You might check out bersatalk.com. Lots of great folks there and tons of info.

Yeah, if he said JHP caused stovepipes, then he's talking out of his nether regions. Guns that have trouble with anything but ball usually have failures to feed, due to poorly ramped or polished feed ramps (which is usually fixable).

That said, for SD I would probably only carry FMJ in a minor caliber like the .380. The bullet is small and light as it is, so a JHP will likely reduce penetration to less effective depths, particularly if it expands early -- penetration with a narrow wound channel tends to be far more effective than shallow expansion. Penetration WITH expansion is ideal, but a lot to ask from a .380 IMO.

Gold Dots feed fine in my Thunder. They make a lot of noise and spit powder back at me too. :)
