    My new Kimber Compact

Bought myself a present for working hard at my new job. Nothing fancy, it's a series I, stainless steel 4'' compact. It's bloody heavy though, not sure this will make it as my carry, I'm still very happy with my Kahr CW9. I've only put 100 rounds through her, but I just love the way the 1911s feel.

    Heavily armed.
    Collection: Kahr CW9, M&P 15-22, Walther P22, Glock 19.
    Sold: XD9 4'', Kimber 1911 Series II compact, FNP-9
    Shopping list: Springfield EMP 9mm, M&P 15 .223

They are heavy but very nice guns. Mine feels like twice the weight of my Kimber Ultra.

    Congrats on the new Kimber.

I have an Ultra and a Compact. The Compact is the best of two worlds...short grip of the Ultra, and the longer barrel of the Pro.
My Compact is the CDP...not as heavy, and easy to carry.

    Stay armed...Kimber ...stay safe!

That is exactly the Kimber I have! I bought my slightly used Stainless Compact Series I about three years ago, and finally got around to taking off the original wood grips and installing the black like in your pic. Other than 10 year old weakening night sights, mine is perfect. Congratulations on finding a top notch Series I. And, for what it's worth, the weight really isn't a major factor as it's little inconvenience is offset by the small, flat, easy to conceal package of the gun itself.

That kimber is a good looking gun. My son had a similar model and had nothing but headaches with it. Sent it back to Kimber 5 times before getting rid of it. Kimber never offered to send a new one or in any way rectify the problem other than to work on it again and send it back to him.
On the other hand, we both carry the Kahr P9 and you'll have to go some to beat that as a carry pistol.
If the Kimber works for you, great. But the weight of the P9 (or CW9) is an ideal carry.

Perfect combination of a 4" bull barrel and compact frame. If the prior poster's son had to send it back five times, there was something wrong with both Kimber and the owner.
